Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe issues have all been covered in other reviews: it's not as clean as would be preferred (though it wasn't badly dirty) and the rooms are both dated and a university dorm. The bathroom in particular needs an upgrade. Happily that's scheduled to happen starting this fall, so it may be different for anyone reading this.
The price, obviously. And the private room. Also mine had a great balcony.

UkraineI didn't like the condition of the bathroom (tiles and taps). There was no place to dry clothes and towels. No shampoo or any kind of insect repellent or mosquito nets.
The location of the hostel deserves applause. It is located near the park. The public areas are clean and tidy. The staff always tries to help. In the lobby you can get coffee and all sorts of drinks, snacks. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are not expensive and there are desserts. There is Wi-Fi, air conditioning, wardrobes, a balcony. You can rent a bike.

BrazilAs with every other review: if you are coming during warm days, be aware that some rooms do not have AC, and it is very, very, very hot. So spending the night was not that comfortable. We left the balcony door opened, it was a trade off with the mosquitoes. They won, we won.
Friendly staff. Location is good, around 15-20 min from the old town (walking). It is important to highlight that this is a student's dorm, so it is a simple accomodation. It is worth the price though. I liked the shower and the cold water from the tap, very refreshing.

GreeceThe room wasn’t clean enough I found crumbles inside the drawers and I found some hair inside the bathroom
Very nice stuff, easy to find and close to the beach. Also there are a lot of buses going to the city centre or if you want to walk is 20 minutes If you are travelling on budget it’s a good choice considering they provide meals for 7-10€.

Germany- It would be great if the hotel takes more care in regards of sustainability. For example, no plastic at breakfast for drinks - Rooms are very basic, beds were not very comfortable Ps. We got informed that the hotel will get renovated at the end of the year.
- First we had a room without AC. We couldn't sleep during the night because it was so hot. Thanks to Dennis from the reception, he gave us an upgrade for the 2nd night - a room with a portable AC which saved us some hours of sleep during the night. Thanks again, Dennis!! He was very nice and helpful. - Breakfast very basic (!) but nice to have included in the room rate. - About 20/25 minutes walk into the city - Some small bays for swimming in walking distance as well - close to the harbour.

United KingdomBeds are comfortable enough. The room itself isn't the greatest. No A/C, certain things are broken (towel hooks, curtain pull string). More soap could be provided. Photos make the room look bigger and in better condition than it actually is. Location is good. Breakfast is good enough (water, tea, coffee, milk, ham, salami, cheese, bread, cereal, butter, jam, chocolate spread, pastries, boiled eggs, sausages, cucumber and tomato, apples, bananas, yoghurt, honey). The only downside of the breakfast is that on some days they will switch the food up or not bring food at the exact same times. There were days where I'd expect fried eggs for example, only for them to be served after I've already finished my breakfast. The staff are really friendly. I had an experience where I was on a phone call on my balcony after midnight and someone screamed and swore at me from their own balcony, telling me to shut up and that they don't want to hear me. However, this is not the hotels fault. Overall, decent.

SwitzerlandThe cooling tower didn't work too well and it was very hot in the room day and night. There's a cafeteria offering meals but was not worth it in my opinion (not bad but not too exciting either, and once they're out of salad or dessert you just don't get any).
Walking distance to great park and some beaches, a bit further to the city but not too bad. Spacious room with comfy beds and a balcony.

The personal were really nice! We had some issues with our booking (the system put us at the wrong room without conditioner). But stuff solve everything very fast and professional. They gave us a room at the another building.

PolandI slept in the room that had no air conditioning. In august that was hard to survive due to high temperatures. And when opening the windows I was attacked by mosquitos all night long as well as disturbed by some loud people outside. Unfortunately I would never predict that is even possible those times that place like that Has no air conditioning. Also part of breakfast buffet was already cleaned 20 minutes before time of closing. Otherwise the rest was OK.
The staff was very nice and helpful.

LithuaniaWe were lucky to live in the different part of the building from huge group of kids, so there was not that much noise, but you can hear people passing through your door, so earplugs would be a must. Bathroom could be renovated a bit - shower cap was leaking, there was no shower gel provided.
Room was clean, AC worked great, beds were comfy enough. There was also breakfast included in the price, which was a nice surprise, even though the breakfast was super simple, we still get to eat enough. Location is a bit far away from the city center, but it is near the beach and yacht harbor so it was a nice change.

United StatesThe only downside is there was no AC. A fan was provided but it still was very hot & I would have to constantly take cold showers to stay cool enough. Sometimes this made it difficult to sleep.
The location was nice, beds were comfortable, and I liked that there was a balcony. There was a lot of space in the room and the staff were super nice and friendly.
