Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SloveniaWe arrived late at night and had some problem finding hotel entrance gate. But a friendly neighbour helped so it was not a problem.
We stayed just for one night without much expectations but Carmen's welcome and her rich and "handmade" breakfast impressed us! We felt as being at home. Our room had a magnificent view over the pool to the sea bay. Hotel facilities are just as you would expect for a 3* property. You can use excellent hotel WIFI as there is no mobile coverage at the Krnica bay.

United StatesWe loved staying at this comfortable and quiet family hotel. It’s a beautiful location and completely surrounded by forest and nature. We woke up to a symphony of birdsong. Breakfast was delicious with ample choices. The room was quiet and convenient to where we were traveling. Carmen and her husband were wonderful hosts, she even took the time to go over where we should travel in the area on a map. The hotel wasn’t super modern and we were fine with it’s homey feeling, very comfortable, good price. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. The pool was a clean and refreshing.

Czech RepublicNothing. The Hotel Carmen was a brilliant base for exploring this beautiful and still quiet part of Istria, with the charms of the all old towns of Istria not too far away.
The owners were very nice people, prepared wonderful breakfast every morning, big garden where spending time was a pleasure, beautiful clean water in the bay for swimming, everywhere peaceful and quiet.

NetherlandsOur beds were quite hard which, together with the moderate airco effectiveness, resulted in some poor nights of sleep. The pool is very nice but the sides lacked some cleaning.
Hotel Carmen is very nice located near the harbour of Krnica and managed by a dedicated and very friendly family. The rooms were very clean, and the breakfast was great with a lot of variety. In the surroundings of the hotels some good restaurant options are available.

BelgiumThe bedcovers were a bit smelly, couldn’t figure out what it exactly was… There’s not much to do in the surroundings, restaurants are located 3-4 km further.
The hotel is a bit old, the bed painful, the pool area not well maintained but the breakfast was absolutely exceptional. Carmen is a fantastic host doing her best to make your stay comfortable.

GermanyNothing to complain about
Hotel Carmen is a little Hideaway. It is very quiet, the rooms provide all you need and the hosts help whenever help is needed. The breakfast is really exceptional being a fullboard Buffet with a lot of things homemade. Nevertheless, the hotel is not at the end of the world. There is a restaurant in the nearby little harbour and Krnica is also not far away. Some little beaches invite you to swim and for those liking it a bit more comfortable a hotel pool is available alternatively.

RussiaEverything was good. Perhaps the only thing to mention is the mattress which was somewhat hard to sleep on.
The hotel is located in a quiet and green area of Istria, there is no stores nearby, only one restaurant. Which was perfect for my stay. There is a wild beach nearby, also quiet with the cleanest water. It was a little busy over the weekend, and quiet on a weekday. There is also a nice pool at the property. The view from the hotel over the harbor is very nice. Carmen is a great host, friendly and accommodating. She serves an excellent breakfast with a wide variety of home-made dishes. I stayed at the hotel for my first night on my road trip in Croatia and Italy, and returned for the last night. Pula airport is a 30 min drive through the green countryside.

Good breakfast with open buffet. 3-min walk to a small beach which is vert good. Also 15-45 min drive to all beaches around Istria. Worth the value and best place to stay in Istria.

United StatesThe main reason I could not give the highest rating I wanted to on this hotel is that a good night sleep is the most important thing in a hotel for me; I did not get good sleep and my whole body was achy the next morning due to the bed was so hard and this made my day the next day pretty tough as I had 4 hours of driving to do. I did try sleeping on top of the bed cover & also on top of the 2 pillows but didn't help. The next morning I heard they have pads for the beds so I wish they would let customers know they can request those given the beds are so hard. Can't report how well those work. 2 other things to mention that are not a big deal are just be wary of (1) when you get to the bottom of the steep hill where the port is, make an immediate sharp left/almost U-turn to the hotel hidden in the back they should tell customers unless I may have missed the sign or message about this. (2) the older larger woman who does not speak English is not sweet and does not know how to work with customers nicely like the english speaking woman.
If not for a couple of things I would have given this hotel the highest rating due to (1) The main woman running it is so sweet she is what I enjoyed about this hotel the most as she was so helpful and also nice to chat with me for a while. (2) the room is a good value for the size, very clean and quiet. If you get a room with a view, it is also nice of the pool below & tiny port with 1 restaurant.
