Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainJust to name a couple of things to improve, I would say that the sofa was quite uncomfortable and the boxes where you put the washing products in the washing machine were quite dirty and had fungus, so we couldn't wash our clothes like we would have liked to.
Amazing terrace, wonderful views and helpful host. The apartment was lovely and the bed was comfortable. Having a parking place was definitely the best in a town like Dubrovnik.

MaltaOur apartment was a semi-basement. I guess I was a little misled by the pictures of the other apartment that has a terrace and is more airy. Oh and there was something in the bathroom leaking water on the floor.
The apartment was very clean and comfortable. It also had private parking, which, in that area is very important. The distance going down to the old town is around 15-20 mins walk, however, it has to be said that it is 15-20 mins of going down steps. Coming back up from the old town is obviously harder and requires more effort and takes around 30 mins 😊. Not ideal if one suffers from knee problems. I think the big elevation change from the apartment to the old town should be noted in the listing. A grocery store was just 5 mins away.

AustraliaThere was a bathtub but no plug (we advised host of this and they offered to buy one). Great to be able tobise the bath tub when you have small kids. ! Definitely needs to be a warning to people who bring a car: road/alley to parking spot is one way only which is fine to drive in, however when you leave, if you continue along the one way path the passage gets narrower - our fairly small hire car could not fit and we nearly got stuck - wing mirror got scratched up - we needed to do a 50 point turn and drive back up the wrong way to get out. We passed a local who told us this happens a lot on this alleyway so would be good to be told of this by host to avoid fees for damaging a rental car.
Good proximity to old town (we generally walked there and caught uber home) Store and bakery nearby.

NetherlandsDubrovnik is incredibly expensive. This apartment is perhaps a little bit pricey for what you get, but nothing out of the ordinary considering the location. We did miss a coffeemaker and there was no stop for the sink or something to do your dishes in (unless we couldn't find it)
The host was incredibly friendly. Upon entering the apartment, there was a bit of a musty, unidentified smell, but that disappeared after opening the windows. The apartment is not very large, but big enough for a couple of days. The outdoor area is great and we were often visited by a lovely neighbor cat

SpainBed pillows are a bit thick and hard. But we took the sofa cushions, so no big deal.
The apartment is very convenient to visit Dubrovnik. 10 minutes walking from the old town, and with private parking slot, it becomes an excellent base camp. It has a bakery and couple of bars for breakfast at 3-4 min walking. The place was perfectly clean and ordered. All appliances and services worked well, including WiFi, so it helped to make our stay in Dubrovnik a great experience, despite the rain :-( The host was very kind, waiting for us at the expected time, and we could communicate pretty well with my broken English.

United StatesThe oven had no markings that could be discerned. So old that they're rubbed off. We couldn't tell what temperature of type of cooking we were setting the oven for. We've seen this in other places in our travels and the owners used permanent fine-tip marking pens to write some numbers, etc that help give an idea to the client. As nice an apartment as this is, overall, the sofa is hard as a "rock". Our "bottoms" were so sore after a short time of sitting and reading or watching a tv show. We don't know if it is possible to change the sofa, of course, but we thought it important to mention. The other thing we'd like to offer the owner is to please get sheets and blankets that are long enough to cover the LENGTH of the bed. The beds are nice and long but it would be much more comfortable to have the bedding that goes with the longer bed. Very strong chlorine smell irritated our throats 7 eyes when the very close next door neighbor "shocked"/high chlorinated their pool (just for your information). Just so people know, in Dubrovnik, housing is in very close quarters, so privacy is difficult to achieve. You can see others and they can see you when on the patio. The back bedroom windows look onto another home's patio. Also you can hear others pretty clearly when in your bedroom while others move around their apartment next door. Oh, also, you need to be careful heading into the bathroom. There is a raised, hard block (not a step) at the entry to it. We stubbed our toes or tripped a good number of times the 1st day or 2 of our stay. We still do recommend Apartments Nico despite these issues. Thank you.
This pleasant looking apartment's location is wonderful. Close to the historic center for those of us who don't mind lots of stairs. Ten minute walk. Large, lovely outdoor patio with a pleasant view, 2 comfy chaise lounges, large patio dining table & chairs. Extra beach towels to lay on the chaise lounges. The bedroom has a lot of closet and drawers to unpack your luggage. The washing machine was excellent. Our hostess provided the 2 extra pillows, extra clothes pin, laundry soap, and a drying rack for all the laundry we needed to do. There are 2 clothes lines on which to dry your laundry, too. Wonderful to have a free, designated parking spot, too. That is not easy in Dubrovnik! We appreciate all the wall hooks in the small hallway!! Not typically offered where we've stayed but it offered us a place to hang hats, jackets, etc and let us use the closet's hangers for our clothing. The air conditioner/heating unit works very well!

The owner is great! The apartment was spacious enough for four people to stay with a large terrace. The parking lot was better than expected (private, under the shade, spacious enough) though it might be complicated to reach it in a bigger car due to the very narrow street.

FinlandNothing to mention, all was perfect
It was a great stay in Dubrovnik, the property is very nicely managed, and the host was so kind they helped us reach the property when I missed the street as it is a very narrow street that could be missed very easily. They have a good parking space for the car. We were offered a welcome drink by the host and also explained to us the main attractions and points of interest and suggested when and how to visit them in detail, which helped us explore dubrovnik. The property was super clean and as is shown in the pictures. We were a bit late to check out but the host was supportive in that also at the time of checkout when I told them we would be driving to Split, she told us some good spots to stop on the way to split, which were really nice places and we enjoyed a lot. The bed was super comfy we had a really nice sleep at this property. Location-wise also the property was very well located and just a 700 m walk to Pile gate. I highly recommend this property and would be staying at the same place whenever in Dubrovnik again.
