Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This a unique property cleverly designed over 3 floors. There is a good outside area with facilities. Breakfast was included and was plentiful and introduced us to local produce. Host was very informative and responsive. The windmill was cleaned every 2 days.

SwitzerlandWe came to Syros specifically because of the windmill, and it really really did not disappoint! The view is absolutely gorgeous, the breakfast in the beautiful yard is such a treat, and the windmill is incredibly cosy and has all the amenities you need! And of course the posts were extremely accommodating and a great pleasure to talk to. Book this and you’ll have a fantastic experience in Syros!

United KingdomExpect high winds in windy season, but is shaded area to get out of the wind so not much to dislike, and plenty tourists taking pictures during stay but is easily helped with signs stating it’s a private property so once again not really a dislike but a note to take on board.
Stunning views, wonderful and thorough details of stay. Information exceptional. Fully stocked fridge for breakfast and even enough for lunch. Hosts are fantastic with local knowledge and is only a phone call away if needed for anything.

United StatesNothing. Τίποτα!
Everything. The anemomylos was a unique experience--obviously a lovingly resurrected building that we felt very fortunate to spend time in. It was a joy just to lie in bed looking at all the artistic touches that went into the restoration. Besides being a woman with vision, Mary was a delight and a fount of information, giving us many suggestions and much help. She picked us up from and returned us to the port, hauled luggage (despite our protestations), kept us fed, and expertly photographed us. Finally, she was invaluable in straightening out rental-car confusion (she's obviously plugged into the Syros scene). She was always there, going above and beyond--a real firecracker, and a treasure. Σας ευχαριστούμε για όλα, Mairη.

United KingdomMy husband and I stayed at the windmill for our honeymoon. Maddie and her mum went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable. They put their heart and soul into hosting. The breakfast has plenty of local products and fresh fruit. We especially liked Mary's homemade jams. We love the fact that Maddie was restocking our fridge every two days, allowing us the freedom to prepare our breakfast ourselves, without relying on anyone else. Maddie also gave us great recommendations for restaurants and beaches. We had dinner at Plakostroto and this was one of the highlights of our trip. The windmill was renovated with great taste in keeping with greek style and with a genuine respect for its heritage. We are grateful for Maddie and her family's warm and thoughtful hospitality.

United StatesThis place is a dream stay. It's unlike anywhere I have stayed before, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Mary picked us up at the port and was so welcoming. She spent time telling us about the windmill, the island and gave us tons of information and recommendations of things to do while in Syros. It is very easy to navigate the island on the bus lines, so we had no need for a rental car. The space within the windmill was compact, but it was sufficient for our needs. Plus, there is so much outdoor space, that you have plenty of areas to relax. Mary provided so much food. We had plenty for our breakfasts and took some with us for lunch at the beach as well. Overall, it was a wonderful stay all the way around.

CanadaMary is a gift! She warmly welcomed us at the port, gave us a tour of Ermoupoli, and spent an hour with us providing recommendations on what to see in Syros and how to get around. She provided us with delicious fresh and local foods and wine. She responded promptly to any question or request we had and transported us to the airport. We love Mary! Her warm reception and support really made this part of the trip. The windmill is gorgeous, clean, unique, and had a beautiful view. It's a lovely walk down to the main town/port and about 5 euros to cab back up the hill. We will definitely be back. Thank you Mary!

We absolutely loved the Windmill. The accommodation and grounds have been thoughtfully and stylishly converted into an amazing holiday home. Mary was fantastic too; she met us from the ferry and returned us to the port at the end of our stay. She explained everything, provided bus timetables, restaurant recommendations and a brief history of the island. The tasty breakfast provisions were sufficient for lunch too. The hill town of Ano Syros is lovely and friendly. The steps to and from Ermoupoli are a good challenge and there are walks in the hills around the windmill if you are adventurous. There is also a free bus which departs a few metres down the road from the windmill. I genuinely hope that we can return one day.

This was one of the most unique and exceptional places we have ever stayed. The views are incredible and there are restaurants within close walking distance with stunning vistas of the whole Harbour. You can easily walk down to the town. Mary, the hostess, is very kind and helpful with a lifetime of experience on the island. She is passionate about the windmill history in her family and can tell you all the amazing places to visit on the island. She provided delicious local foods as well in plentiful quantities. We had more than enough for breakfast and were even able to pack a lunch to go to the other side of the island. Her hospitality was above and beyond!! She picked us up from the port, so do not be discouraged with the distance. There are free buses up the hill as well or taxi service. Do not stay down by the port. These views are not to be missed!! You cannot find a better place to stay on the island I am certain! If we ever return, we will certainly stay at the windmill!!

NetherlandsAno Syros is a medieval fortress town on top of a steep hill above the capital city of Ermoupoli. The walk up is really hard but there is an easy solution - get a taxi from central Ermoupoli for only 7 euros.
Amazing location at the top of the hill with views across the sea to at least half a dozen Cyclades islands on a clear day, in the town of Ano Syros. The host Maria is so kind and geneous and helpful, and supplied so much food for our breakfasts, including self-made fresh jams and honey. Within short walking distance of local taverns and restaurants in Ano Syros town.

I loved my unique stay in the windmill and the host (Mary) was simply outstanding. The windmill is very well stocked and the host provided a great selection of local treats (sweets, cheese, meat, syros wine, etc.), maps, suggestions and absolutely anything needed. The host even met me at the port when my ferry arrived at 4:50am. The windmill is super clean with stylish decor. The family did an excellent job restoring the windmill - top quality all the way. Comfortable bed and usable kitchen. Highly recommended.

NetherlandsThe windmill is sometimes taken as a public site by visitors, they take photos and even come inside once, even with the sign of “private property” in each gate. Mary is trying to solve this with a bigger gate and sign. But this is not a big issue for us. We are not annoyed. :)
The unique windmill locates in a mountain top where you can see the sea, whole city and amazing sunrise. The mill inside is not as big as we expected, but it’s clean and cozy, definitely makes our stay in Syros a lot of joy. The yard is quite big. I do suggest to seat there after sunset. You will enjoy soft breeze, starring sky, and a peaceful city overview. It is just above the Ano Syros - the old town, so you feel very much like living with locals. Mary is a very nice person who provided us great food and many suggestions of visiting the island. Her homemade fig jam is super with the local cheese!

United Kingdomwe cannot stress how amazing both this accommodation and Mary (the owner) are. A 10 does not do it justice. Mary is a fountain of knowledge. she gives great recommendations and you feel like you’ve known her for years! The breakfast provided is so good, the goats cheese on bread with honey is definitely something I’ll be eating back home! The windmill is fantastic, it’s strange staying somewhere that is part of peoples pictures! The attention to detail and comfort of the windmill is something else. It will forever be special to us as it’s the place I proposed to my partner. Thank you again Mary. We’ll be back hopefully for the wedding!
