Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainOne can see the owners don't really care much about the quality: - we were there a total of 5 days, not a single day there was hot water - the rooms and specially the shared bathrooms are very poorly equipped: not a single place to hang your towel or bag while taking a shower (I really stood there wondering how to manage that). This happened in all the showers, not only in one particular case. Also in the sink, so for brushing teeth it is the same story. - the fan in our room wasn't working. In general it is a pity that such a good located hostel feels so abandoned. I think some small work hanging placed to put towels, repairing broken stuff or just making it look nicer could improve the hostel a lot, so I hope the owners decide to invest that little amount of money and time to make it more comfortable.
The staff were amazing! Very kind and helpful, we enjoyed being with them a lot! Also the location is great!

Saudi ArabiaHorrible mess in rooms and beds distribution; new guests were jumping into others' beds, as there was no numbers. A stranger from the street (literally), i.e. not a guest, spent a night in the room I stayed in, due to the lack in security and control, where the staff couldn't chase him out. Lockers without locks. Showers were in a misserable condition. Maintenance is a real need.
Probably the location was the only thing I liked.

United Statesmultiple people had been robbed/woken up to someone over them the night before we arrived. we could not sleep because there was no ac and the room was so so hot. the bathroom was gross with standing water on the floor and none of the stalls locked. we had to actively seek out a key to lock our stuff up. did not stay another night and got a hotel instead. would not recommend.

I appreciate a lot to stay in Welcommon. The location is very nice next in Exarcheia next to the night life and cultural life. But most of all, as always, the people you meet make the whole different. And the volunteers there particularly Raimondo and Anna were amazing. They showed me the best spot, bars, and people in the neighborhood and were definitely great hosts!! I can only recommend to meet them and talk with them. They're so nice!!

IsraelThe rooms had no air conditioner, and we weren't provided with fans. It wasn't until we realized that you could take fans from the reception that we purchased one. There was no hot water at certain hours, the room was broken, the window barely opened, and the hostel is intended for refugees, but is listed as a regular hostel in booking. I paid a very high price and received nothing in return. The reception staff was unpleasant, our room was not cleaned during our entire stay, the beds were wrapped in plastic and uncomfortable, and there were only two sockets in the room and one was for the fan. We had to charge all our devices using a barely working socket.
Location wasn't bad, but everything was in old areas and a bit far from the center.

United KingdomUnfortunately my phone was stolen at the time of my stay, I arrived at 1 am, and at 3 am my phone was stolen beside my head while on charge, i was asleep. Other person in the room his mobile phone was also stolen. Earlier that night and a laptop was stolen from the common area. The management did not care at all. The staff were dodgy and looked like an inside job. No CCTVs anywhere. We reported the incident to the police during the morning. When we got back to the hostel at around 2pm, another guest’s phone was stolen. We tried to tell the manager to call the police, and what he said was we should be careful of our belongings! The manager was so apathetic and absolutely useless including the receptionist guy. They were arguing with the guests instead of being helpful. Pls avoid this place at all cost. It might be cheap but it’s not worth anything at all.
Nothing, from the facilities to staff, everything is rubbish. Locker keys are not available, if they are, most of them were broken. There’s no ventilation in the room so it’s like sleeping on a sauna, impossible to get comfortable. Toilets are dirty. Dodgy staff.

BelgiumWorst experience ever. The room wasn’t clean. The bathroom wasn’t clean. The personal wasn’t able to find our room key, we waited more than an hour to access our room because the key didn’t work at night. The personal had no experience at all, the guy even told us ‘ I don’t work here you know, I’m just helping here’. I had to take myself a box of 50 keys to try each one to see which one fits with the lock for more than an hour. And the thing is, a lot of people were waiting like us to access their room. Bad experience !

BrazilThe hostel is ok, but all of the crew and the purpose of the hostel is incredible! At the begining it was an hospital transformed into an hostel for tourism but also for migrant. This is first association helping refugee in greece. If you want to help those people and the neigborhood go over there, if you want to help the gentrification in Exarcheia book an Airbnb and be like all those people closing their eyes in front off reality. MexicoDon't accept an upper bunk in a dorm room unless you're a monkey 🐵 or a contortionist. Bunk beds are rickety. No AC. It must be really unbearable in the summertime. Even in May, with eight people in the dorm it's hot. No access to the rooftop. What a shame. The view must be tremendous.
