Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe spa is too close to the pool so is noisy when you are trying to relax.
Well done hotel. Close enough to town to walk about 20 minutes. Comfortable beds. Spa staff excellent.

SwitzerlandWe’ve had our wedding in chania on 31st of August, an we had the pleasure to stay at this wonderful, perfect, professional and dreamy modern hotel. The employees are just so friendly, welcoming and lovely! We will come back as often as we will be in chania. This was the most wonderful experience and made our wedding even more special.

United KingdomNothing. It’s on the outskirts of town which we liked, but having a car is helpful (parking in Chania is easy and app based) but you can walk in easily
The Tanneries is fabulous and we absolutely loved our stay! Fantastic, modern, comfortable rooms over looking the sea. Loved that our room had its own steam room and jacuzzi! The breakfast is lovely and dinner in the restaurant is also great. The small gym is ample. Didn’t have time to try the spa this trip. The building itself is Interesting and attractive, and the area has a great vibe. Possibly the best aspect is that the staff are exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble. They tailored breakfast to our preferences, were on hand to recommend places to visit and restaurants/ tavernas in each location, provided towels for beach visits, and they even helped us load the car when we left! I would highly recommend it.

South AfricaStunning Boutique Design Hotel! We had the presidential suite which was superb. The restaurant on site is top notch, but what made the stay special and different, was the amazing staff! Especially YANNIS was one of a kind and truly the best ambassador for The Tanneries and the Greek hospitality industry.

Dazzling setting. Clean, safe and open 24 hours for early/late arrivals. The staff were friendly, a fountain of knowledge from menu options to places to visit. The restaurant was phenomenal with staff that were attentive and cheerful. Housekeeping cleaned the glass on the balcony. The valet was ever present. Easy walk to the sites of old town but not in the midst of chaos. Greeted with champagne and treats after a long ride from the airport. Constantly restocking water through our stay.

It was one of the best hotels we've stayed at. The rooms were functional designed and modern, and the steam shower was awesome. Location was great, a quieter area with beautiful water views and a 30 minute walk to the town centre. The breakfast was delicious and all the staff that worked in the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

BelgiumWe did an excursion with KYRIAKAKIS TRAVEL ( booked by the hotel) to hike the Samaria Gorge. The organisation of this agency was a true disaster: pick up at 5.55 AM( the driver of the minibus was 20 minutes too late and very rude). We had to connect to a bigger touring bus which took us to the starting point. We arrived after taking the ferry from 5.30 PM and the touring car from KYRIAKAKIS at 8.15 PM IN Chania…. it took from then on almost 2 extra hours for the driver to take every passenger with the huge touring car to their respective hotel. We were back in the hotel at 10.00 PM.,exhausted! We missed the dinner in the hotel restaurant, after taking a shower it was too late ….when you hear the name of this company, take your money and run! We also told the hotel reception our experience and offered our excuses for not honouring our dinner appointment. But our compliments to the driver of the touring bus: he was very experienced, but also a victim of the bad organisation of his employer … in my opinion.
Beautiful hotel, very good staff and wonderful food.

The architecture and design of this hotel are impeccable. Great lines and colors throughout the hotel amazing stonework. Breakfast was fantastic and the staff were excellent. Hotel is about a 20 minute walk outside of old town Chania, or about a 8 to 9 minute drive. Parking and traffic in Chania is insane so I liked being just a tad out of the city. Beds were comfortable and rooms immaculate

United StatesThere is a nice area outside of the pool/spa area could be set up for lounging. The view is great, so our balcony was used often and west facing for sunsets, but the chairs could be more comfortable.
The staff was friendly and responsive. Dining was great, the foods were well prepared and there was a variety of choice. We did a wine tasting organized by the sommelier, Iro at a winery on the slopes of the nearby mountains. It was an extraordinary experience. Tour of the facilities and 5 different wines along with history on Crete.
