Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesAmazing little hotel. When you walk in the reservation desk is not impressive but the rooms are nice and comfortable. The staff was very helpful, especially Nikoletta. We had a group dinner there, 29 people. It was excellent. The breakfast is outstanding, not your typical buffet. It’s cooked to order and delivered to your table. Excellent location, just a 20 min walk to the Acropolis!

We loved everything about this hotel. The location is perfect. We were able to walk to the Acropolis, Plaka, Syntagma Square and many other sites within 15-20 minutes. The staff handled all our requests-private car and guide, airport transfer, dinner reservations, etc.. A special recognition to Efi who helped me pre-arrange our tour and answered all my questions. The hotel room was spacious and very comfortable. The room was large, especially for a European hotel. Our bed and pillows felt amazing after long days exploring! The restaurant was very good and reasonably priced-we only had breakfast there but it was delicious. We highly recommend The Gem Society. You will not be disappointed and will love it!!

The Gem Society Is a lovely, friendly hotel in a really central location perfect for exploring all the sights of Athens. The hotel had a nice bistro on the ground floor. Rooms were really quiet even though we were near busy streets. Helpful, friendly staff; comfortable, attractive rooms which were spacious compared to other city hotels; and a good price point made this a great value hotel.

United StatesNothing. There was an issue with their elevator on the second day but they offered us to use the service elevator. They are very hospitable and proactive.
Location, facility, service & staff were great. No outside view but you can open the windows that face courtyard for some fresh air. They designed the building and the use of the interior space very well. We were impressed. The staff was very nice and provided us with excellent services swiftly. We will definitely go back there.

It was quiet, the staff was great, the breakfast amazing. They did have a spa we did not have time to visit, but next time we go, we'd stay and take advantage of the services.
