Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. BulgariaWe were traveling with two cars and were told that there are two available parking spots. When we arrived at the villa the host told us that we have only one. However, the problem was solved after. The main problems were that for the 4 days we were staying at the villa there was not water. The lights in some rooms weren't working and the place was not clean at all. We tried contacting the host about the water problem and she laughed at us and told us she will check, but never returned a call. The sheets were dirty. The whole time they were not answering their phones. At the day of arriving the check in was at 16:00, but we checked around 17:00 because they were not answering again.
The location is good.

United StatesThe bedroom and bathroom on the lower floor had mold on the walls(very intense smell). No shower curtains in both bathrooms. The toilet in the upper bathroom was broken ( had to call maintenance to come and fix it) The beds in the entire house were very uncomfortable. The kitchen lacks utensils. No blankets( we had to call the people renting the house to get some, as well as an extra set of bedsheets, since they rent the house for 9 people and had left only 8 sets of bedsheets). Very hard to find on maps. Parking for one car only ( if planning on coming with more than one car consider this, although the people living in the surrounding houses helped us find parking that is free of charge nearby)
Nice terrace, with a seaview. Air conditioning throughout the house. The wifi worked totally fine. The house has a washing machine( convenient when traveling for more than a weekend)

BulgariaI have never need to more neglected and in a bad condition place! Everything was old and disgusting. There were so much mold on the walls. The mattresses were softly said uncomfortable. The location was incorrect and different from this one in Booking. The host was so impolite and unhelpful- there was not wi-fi for whole the period and she did NOTHING! Don’t waste your time any money for this place.

GermanyWe had an extremely disappointing experience with this host. There was no communication at all, and we couldn't reach the host when we arrived. We were only able to enter the house by chance, as the cleaning staff were just leaving. Unfortunately, the poor communication continued throughout our stay. When it was time to check out, we once again tried to contact the host for instructions but received no response. This left us unsure of the proper checkout procedures, adding unnecessary stress to our departure. This lack of communication ,organization and this level of unresponsiveness is unacceptable. As paying guests, we expect at least basic communication.
