Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainWhen I arrived, I went directly to the location provided in booking, and I found a brothel, the whole street was full of company girls, just when I arrived a taxi stopped right in front and started arguing in a very bad way with one of them. , my face was contorted, I didn't know what to do. Then it is true that they changed my stay. I had to arrive early at the hotel or be making video calls all the time when I was on the way to it, there are many people who give a bad vibe, it is not suitable for children, and they have to be careful with their bags because even if they are not violent, some they are too curious
It is quite central for the price it has

NorwayThere was either overbooking or some kind of technical disability so I had to be moved to some other hotel called Lido Hotel. The area was kind of dirty, the room was heavily used with old installations, missing courtains in the shower. My clothes were stinking cigarettes smoke and I was washing them twice after I came back. I was offered a breakfast in another (already third) hotel: €6 for leftovers and the poorest quality products advertised as “Greek breakfast”. Much potential for improvement. People were helpful, so this was a big plus.
As for this price vs. quality it was cheap, also its close to the center. The staff was helpful.

BrazilWe had to move to Hotel Lido next to Orpheus Hotel, where we across by drug junkies in high amounts on the street. Initially we fell fear to walk, but next days we got used with this bad experience.
Price and air conditioner are skills that become interesting to stay in property.

MexicoI think the hotel needs a bit of an upgrade. In general the facilities are rather old. The bed was a bit uncomfortable. The bathroom didn't have a shower curtain, so everything went wet when taking a shower. For a night is acceptable, but more than one night, I wouldn't stay to be honest.
The staff was really helpful. I had booked for a different hotel, which was unavailable, and they took us to another one, and allowed us to do early check-in. The neighborhood is not the best, but also close to the nice areas and within a walking distance to Acropolis. In general it was well located, but the neighborhood per se was rather ugly.

HungaryFirstly Orpheus Hotel was not available, they just sent me to another hotel, as I read other opnions it happnes a lot of time! The area is the worst that I ever seen in my life, in the surrounded street thereare hundreds of homeless people who are using drugs on the street, obviously most of them are mad and unpredictable, dangerous. They said it’s fine they are harmless but the first night I walked 100 meter!!! Alone they immadiately came after me to ask if I wanna have something, I said no but they were following me. Luckily the hotel was close. SO UNSAFE, SO DISGUSTING!! I would not recommend to anyone but especially not for families or children!
Nothing, literally nothing!! I just do not understand how booking let this place to be on it’s side!!!

AustraliaThere were prostitutes in the lobby and outside, drug addicts and junkies everywhere, pubes and body hair all through the sheets. They didn’t let us stay there they said we had to leave and stay somewhere else in the middle of the night and we had to go in an unmarked car with security because the streets were too dangerous to walk 400m away to another hotel. Room smelt disgusting and we both woke up sick. Bathroom smelt even worse we couldn’t use it at all.
The staff member at our second hotel was nice - the hotel we were not meant to stay in

SwitzerlandHotel Orpheus is a facade for a brothel. Read all the comments!! It’s not a single incident, you’ll find a pattern for years!! Once you arrive, they will inform you that they have a problem (but didn’t say what it is exactly) and will send you off to another sister hotel (Lido Hotel). The route between both hotels was 7 mins, but it was filled with tens of junkies, doing all sorts of drugs on the side road, and using syringes, or collecting garbage of the floor. I was truly scared!! Not because any of them tried to approach me, but because I was easily outnumbered. Outside both hotels there were prostitutes waiting for clients. Men all around the block would look at me and scan me (literally) to figure out if I am a prostate or client or just a hotel guest. The hotel itself was ok. But the toilet had no seat, no curtains, and you have to hold the shower head by hand. The balcony has very bad sound insulation, you can hear everything outside in the street. Soundproofing between rooms is almost non-existent. I couldn’t sleep because the family next door were hand-washing all their clothes in the bathtub until 3 am!! And I could even hear the conversations they were having together, on the phone, or when their baby cried. Doors were opening and closing in the corridors ALL NIGHT LONG. Between not being able to sleep, and actually being scared about my safety, I spent one of the worst nights of my life.
