Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandNaturally, being next to a beach meant sand everywhere! Sheets had stains and I am covered in bites. (not confirmed) but thinking bed bugs as I have spots on the side of my face that I sleep on
I liked that it was not in central Naxos, felt less touristy. Close to the bus stop and supermarkets

United StatesCheck-in and check-out process was a bit confusing. The location did not have a sign saying "Naxos Hostel."
Restaurant was available on site. Staff was great. She worked multiple jobs. Lockers were great.

United KingdomFacilities very basic and not the most comfortable for a stay beyond one or two nights. Couldn’t sit up in top bunk without hitting head (and I’m 5’2), and no windows as in a basement so didn’t want to spend any time in the room.
Great location for a beach stay

CanadaI extended my stay, and had to switch rooms to the downstairs female dorm. That was not a very pleasant experience. I am a tall person, and I got the top bunk and because the ceiling is low in the downstairs area I could not even sit on my bed.
Amazing location. Easy to access public transit. Bonus to have free umbrellas and lounge chairs

JapanI stayed in the female dorm. The beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. There is an emergency exit sign above the door that illuminates the room the entire night. It is great that its right next to the beach, but there is nowhere to wash your feet before you go inside so the floor is covered in sand which finds it's way into your bed.
The location is amazing - easy to get to by public transport, near lots of restaurants and bars, and right next to the beach. You can use the sunbeds for free if you're staying at the hostel. It was also nice having a bathroom in the room, and the lockers, fridge and WiFi are handy. The staff are friendly and helpful.

New ZealandRooms can get damp so you need to make sure the aircon is set to the dehumidifier setting and then the problem is solved. There's no facilities for cooking but there is a fridge in the room and you can borrow cutlery from the bar attached.
Perfect location directly across from the beach Room cleaned every day which was nice. Nice social vibe in the hostel Walking distance to restaurants/cafes Local bus stops just outside, it's 2 euros each way to get to all parts of the island including the Port. It's basic but all you need for a beach life holiday on a budget. Free beach loungers for guests!

NetherlandsThe showers were either boiling hot or cold with no pressure, but they were trying to fix this.
The location couldn’t be any better, the beach is just across the road and the 3rd & 4th row of beach beds are free to use. When I was there I met the best people and the atmosphere was the BEST! It’s super basic, but you get what you pay for, I’m pretty sure this was the cheapest option on Naxos as a solo traveller. The owners were super friendly, as were the girls behind the bar :)

United StatesThe exit line is really bright in the rooms so it was kinda of hard to sleep at night. The beds were also super uncomfortable. And there was no atmosphere, I wouldn’t really call it a hostel. I think there’s good potential but adding a few more touches could really help!
It was a very clean and quiet space, AC worked great and it stayed cool during the day and night. The free beach chairs were nice. The beach is so close and so beautiful. Met two nice people.

The hostel was much better than expected- it has a clean and working airconditioner, a fridge, and ample showers and power plugs for our use. It even provides towels. When I was reading the reviews of the hostel, I was initially worried. However, when I arrived and saw the state of the hostel, it was clear that the staff did its best to address all the shortcomings that had been ventilated by previous travellers. I am beyond appreciative and grateful for the hostel staff‘s initiative.

United KingdomSome rooms had a very muggy feel due to lack of ventilation. No windows allowing air flow. I stayed in a couple of rooms and the female dorm was better than the room opposite except the showers didn’t have any sort of cover so basically sprayed directly into the bathroom. The bathroom vents went out into the courtyard so you could hear everyyyyyything and also cig smoke would come in the room. The mixed dorm needed more ventilation for sure particularly the bathroom as it would become a sweat cave after someone showered (and the door wouldn’t stay open so couldn’t do that either). Also, there’s no kitchen facilities - not even a kettle - but there is a fridge-freezer in each room. The towels provided sometimes were bath mat / hand towel sized. I’m unsure why they did this because that’s really not good to not have at least body sized towels in a shared dorm with people you don’t know!! Sometimes we did get bigger towels but the majority of us had tiny ones.
Right next to the beach which was amazing and you could get the sun beds at the back for free. Cheapest food in the area so got a decent sized breakfast for €6-8 ish. Rooms were a good size and the AC was great. Lockers were a good size and sheets & towels were provided (some very small though).
