Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MaltaIn the close vicinity near the hotel, there have been lots of homeless people staying, however, the area is still quite safe.
The staff have been extremely friendly, helping out and giving advice whenever asked. In addition, the areas is quite easily accessible via the metro.

United KingdomOnly the location - pretty unpleasant in the streets around with a large number of people sleeping in doorways and in the gutters.
The hotel met expectations in terms of the cost we paid. Research highlighted the location which is the same of many hotels in the area, the streets around are not at all pleasant, though we didn't feel unsafe. It is though, a fairly central location, good access, and plenty to eat and drink nearby. The main tourist areas are 15-20 mins walk away which was fine. Room was comfortable, with key facilities being fridge and air conditioning, shower was fine. Inevitably noisy outside, but I'm glad we had a street facing room rather than out the back! Somehow, taking in the noise from the balcony was refreshing but inside with the door shut the noise wasn't an issue.

United KingdomThere are a lot of homeless people in the streets around the hotel, but this is not the hotels fault. I would have liked a kettle in the room.
The staff were wonderful and very friendly. Fixed the problem with my air conditioning very promptly. The room was large.

RomaniaThe building is not quite sound proof, so a light sleeper should bring ear plugs. While the area is quite nice, there are some streets near the hotel that should better be bypassed.
The staff was always great and helpful. Daily cleaning was great as well. The room had a balcony which was great for a smoker. There's a storrage room that was very usefull as we had a few hours to stroll around the city before leaving for the airpot.

United KingdomRoom was comfortable but ensuite bathroom could do with some upgrading. The shower curtain didn't stay in place and the shower head was wobbly. But we were able to shower.
Friendly helpful reception staff. The hotel had a lift. Plenty of cafes nearby to have breakfast and good proximity to the Metro and buses. The view from our room was a wall, but we had privacy and peace from a busy road outside the front of the hotel.

BulgariaThe light in the room was bad. The area is a little bit shady and dirty. There are lots of homeless people and lying people on the streets.
The host is freindly and speaks English. The room was normal. There was a public transport near the hotel. Also there is a paid parking against the hotel, which is safety and the price for the stay is normal.

AustraliaI’m not deducting any point for this as it’s not the hotels fault. But PLEASE be aware this area is not safe. There is a settlement of junkies literally around the corner and the streets around are just dodgy.
I want to give the hotel a rating regardless of the surrounding area as thats only seems fair. The location is good, it’s a 5 minute walk to the metro and about half an hour is you want to walk into the main area. The rooms were decent for the price you pay. Our bathroom was good. This is more of a suggestion, please provide bottom sheets the fit the bed. The ones provided are not good enough. I should not move during the night and then be sleeping directly on a gross mattress. That is simply unhygienic. Other than that, the bed was comfy and the lady at the front desk was lovely.
