First of all, to reach the hotel, you have to use a car or a motorbike as the island of Kalymnos is very mountainous. There are 3-4 rental shops when you get off the ferry. Taxi costs 30€. It was very easy to find because the gentleman I rented the bike described. After the AB markets, left the navel and right behind the kiosk… let's come to our beautiful hotel! very comfortable, clean. the view is beautiful. the owner Georges is incredibly friendly and helpful. Whenever you want, he always chats with you, gives travel advice and even invites you to go for a visit to near places. Apart from these, you can chat about everything like about economy, drinks or life ;) A peaceful, quiet and relaxing hotel. Again, you will need a car or motorbike to reach the sea or to leave the hotel and visit other places, for your information!

Mary Popi is a lovely small relaxed family-run hotel in a privileged location with beautiful sea views, comfortable rooms and a lovely pool. This already made for a great start to our holiday but the cherry on the cake for me was the generosity and kindness of our hosts who were welcoming and very helpful without ever being intrusive. The atmosphere here generally was just lovely and relaxed. It felt very safe. We (my 10-year-old daughter and I) both really enjoyed our week at Mary Popi. We had no car but there are 3 fantastic beaches within a short walk with nice places to eat and amazing sunsets. Everybody we met during our stay on Kalynmos was very pleasant and friendly. Next time I would hire a car to explore further afield but we found plenty in this area alone to keep us happy for 7 days. Thank you for a very memorable week on your beautiful island.

The room had everything you could need, kitchen facilities for hot drinks and a fridge (had a hot plate but didn’t use it). Bathroom was clean and always had hot water. Room was cleaned frequently. The property is set behind Platis Yialos beach, which can be reached in minutes by foot which is very convenient. There is a nice pool if you prefer. Very peaceful location. The family are very kind and welcoming, they helped us find a car hire business to help with our visit around the island. There is a mini market just along the road, and a restaurant by the beach. If you’d like more selection you’d need to either travel to Panormos (which can be reached in 20mins by foot, or a few mins by car) or any of the main villages (need transport). We used a taxi to get to and from the port, only 20mins and 15euro.

The bed are not the best of confort, but it's still totally OK. And i would have liked just a few kitchen supplies in addition (for example a tea towel, a bowl for salad). But we are really talking about small details.

The host was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable, he allowed me to delay my checkout to meet my needs. The accommodation is simple but has everything you need. Big plus: from the veranda you can admire the sunset on the sea.

Kitchen ware was a very old and not overly clean, cups, plates etc. Could do with updating. Noisy cockerills next door so if youre a light sleeper you may struggle with their noise.

The views were stunning. The room nice and big, beds comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was generally clean. For the price is was a really lovely place to stay, met my needs nicely. Very quaint.

Could feel the springs in the bed

Loved the location, sea view with a sunset, balcony, pigs & chickens for neighbours, light, airy room. Platys Gialos is wonderfully quiet & serene. I liked that the bus & supermarket was a 10 minute walk away.

Nothing to dislike. We were given an apartment at the back with no view which didn’t bother us because we were out all day but might be an issue for others.

Great location for exploring the island, swimming pool with a view and wonderful service from the owners who gave us free eggs from their chickens and sorted out a hire car for us. The room was big enough for a family and there was even an oven in the kitchenette.

There was a really bad smell at the toilet, possible from sewage.

Our stay at Mary Popi apartment in Kalymnos was a complete disappointment. Upon arrival, there was no reception; instead, we were met with a room filled with trash, resembling an apothecary. After waiting for 10 minutes and making a call, a lady finally arrived, providing minimal guidance to our room upstairs. Upon entering the room, we were greeted by blood-stained sheets, a dirty bathroom with urine on the toilet bowl, a broken curtain, and an absence of hand soap. Even worse, despite it being the designated quiet time of 3pm in Greece, our room overlooked an active construction site, subjecting us to relentless noise. The combination of these unfortunate factors led us to decide to leave the property just an hour after arriving. Unfortunately, our attempts to address these issues with the property’s reception were in vain, as there was no response or assistance available. In a final attempt, we spoke to some kids on the property who informed us that their parents owned the place. We conveyed our intention to leave through them, and that’s exactly what we did. Subsequent communication with both customer service and the property management proved to be unhelpful. Shockingly, the property not only refused to reimburse us for the two nights we didn’t stay, but also responded to our complaints with disbelief, ironically claiming that the room was in perfect condition. Additionally, for those considering a visit, please be aware that access to the beach requires descending and ascending a hill, which could pose a challenge for those with difficulty walking uphill. Overall, our experience with Mary Popi apartment was a nightmare from start to finish, characterized by inadequate staff, unacceptable room conditions, and a complete lack of accountability or understanding from the property management.

We arrived at about 2:30 am and mr George was waiting there to give us our keys, a bottle of water and some figs.. We had arranged our stay the next day, but since we arrived late the night before on the island, he let us stay in the room, because it was empty, without any additional charge. The place is in a quiet neighborhood and the back rooms are shaded almost all day... A pleasant and friendly family made us feel part of them.

It’s only a little thing and didn’t really affect our stay that much but we could have done with some more cooking utensils/pots and pans in the kitchen. I guess it depends on how much you actually cook and we made nearly all our meals there.

Amazing host who made us feel part of the family and supported us in getting to shops, organising mopeds and even showed us around the island! The whole place was always clean and welcoming and our room was cleaned 3x during our 10 day stay.

The owners of Mary Popi made my stay absolutely amazing. I injured my foot towards the end of my stay and Giorgios helped me get to the hospital, brought me food and was so very caring. They are there for whatever you need and are so welcoming. Thank you so much Giorgos and Mary Popi!!!!
