Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOia was our last location after an active 5 week driving holiday around Europe. Our goal was to find somewhere beautiful to predominantly relax by a pool, be served drinks/cocktails, read and wind down before travelling home to Australia. So we blew the budget and chose Fanari. As it had a pool, bar and restaurant, I had no reason to believe our goal would not be met. Can you imagine our disappointment when we realised the pool and adjacent lounge area were in full sun from late morning, in the fairly oppressive heat. And even if we could bear to lie poolside and be served refreshments- there was no staff to do so. You had to order by QR code which indicated an extra $10 euro delivery fee on any and every order!! This would make an already expensive cocktail, unaffordable. On the first day my husband asked if an umbrella could be put over a couple of lounge chairs and the response was a polite, “That is not possible sir” without explanation. Why?? It is not an odd request. The facility had large umbrellas in other locations, so the supply was there. And there were about 10 lounges and we were only asking for one umbrella to shade 2 of them. During our 4 day stay, we did not see one person use the sun lounges. Not one!! And we only saw one guest take a quick swim. On the other hand the hotel directly below us had pool, lounges, umbrellas and obvious pool-side service, and the lounges were occupied all day. Can you imagine our jealousy watching this scenario below us- the very scenario we craved and had blown our budget for!! I have seen other reviews complaining about the same thing and I recall a response was that you can sit in the pool cave for shade. Seriously? Sit in this very small, claustrophobic space, without lounge beds, with a compromised view!!? My husband and I ended up having to travel elsewhere on the island to fulfill our desire.
Unbeatable location in Oia. View view view! Private view of famous sunset. Spacious, comfortable, clean room. Friendly, helpful staff.

United StatesWe absolutely loved our stay at Fanari Villas. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. From the first moment we arrived we felt welcome and appreciated. They had free drinks in the room which was a nice surprise. The views from our patio and the restaurant were incredible. Dining at the restaurant is a must. The location was terrific, between the views and proximity yo shopping and dining, I can’t imagine better. Very happy we booked this for our stay.

United StatesYou need to be careful and understand this specific room is 160 steps from reception. It is private, but quite far away. If you have a bad knee, this is not the room for you, as beautiful and private as it is.
The views, the attentive staff, the hardworking porters and housekeeping, the personal touch ...

GermanyPrice was too high especially at the restaurant, if the quality of foods were good, it would be O.K but it wasn't. The staffs there were mostly kind and helpful but the head(or leader) of restaurant(I don't know if he was a head or not) was frawning always and even didn't response the greeting in the morning time.
The location was fantastic, could see the sunset at the villa. The interior of villa was special, fancy, comfortable and unique. There was a small private pool which was too small to swim but very good to relax in it seeing the beautiful ocean view. Bed was very comfortable, airconditioner was working perfectly.

United KingdomBreakfast is minimal - it is ok - but limited for vegetarians and special dietary needs like Gluten Free. You need to advise hotel before arrival and even then the provision for Gluten-Free is not good.
The location is amazing and views spectacular from the Cave Villas. it was quiet and peaceful as well as quite private. The villa's themselves are lovely and rustic with enough power points, good selection of glasses etc to drink from - you are best getting alcohol from a nearby local drinks shop. The hot tub was a good size. I will say the bed was comfortable and slept well - good pillows - bathrooms a little small BUT shower was amazing - hot and powerful with good range of shower gel etc. Overall, really pleased with the Villa. Be warned - given location on cliff - there are steep set of steps to get down from entrance to cave villas but nothing strong legs cannot deal with. We had a drink at the hotel outside bar - again lovely location for the sunset.

United StatesMaybe reserve the best seats (with a direct sunset view) in the restaurant for in house guests while booking dinner. They did not do it for our dinner booking, though had promised us that, but did apologize and compensate with a bottle of champagne.
The service at the reception was very good. They arranged for the luggage to be picked up from the Hotel’s gated parking. Amenities inside the room were exceptional. A wine bottle to welcome you was unexpected. We had access to the pool which was just 2 to 3 steps from our room. It has a great view from the pool.

Everything! A gorgeous & spacious suite of rooms (honeymoon sunset suite) with stunning views of the famous Oia sunset and the caldera (from two decks!). Everything was tasteless & elegant! a special mention and thank you to the front desk staff—they were gracious and helpful. And the porter was terrific too.

GermanyNothing not to like about the hotel, but everyone has to be aware that Santorini is nothing but steps. All hotels, restaurants, shops, and sights are based around steps. This is not a complaint about the hotel at all. Just be prepared for steps.
Everything was amazing. We booked the “Honeymoon Suite” because I had always wanted a cave pool and we were celebrating our 20th anniversary. It was the most amazing room and the staff made everything so special. We arrived to a chilled bottle of champagne, a gorgeous bouquet of fresh flowers, a full complementary mini bar, a coffee bar, a gorgeous balcony overlooking the caldera and so much more. They also booked us the best table in their restaurant to watch the sunset. They went above and beyond in every way imaginable. The price of the room was an incredibly fair price for the luxury you get and the best service on the island. I can’t say enough about the place. Be sure to arrange transport upon your arrival. The hotel took care of it for us upon request and it saved so much frustration and stress when we arrived.

United KingdomAbsolutely can not fault Fanari Villas, our stay was amazing. If you are not familiar with Santorini in general however, there are a lot of steps. We went with a 9 month old and hired a car. The hotel staff helped us with our bags which made life a lot easier. During the stay however we barely used the buggy which we brought with us, it is baby carrier all the way as the best way to get about!
We went with our 9 month old and chose to go later in the year when it was quieter. We had an incredible holiday! Staff were brilliant. Very helpful and looked after us well throughout our stay. Location was perfect in relation to the town, the bay and everything is within a short walking distance. Sunsets were stunning and we enjoyed a couple from the heated pool on our balcony.

United KingdomWhile the breakfast is GREAT, they made it sound like it was/is included in the price and it wasn't. But definitely get it! or you are doing your stair-master overly early!
Absolutely wonderful. Particularly recommend the Crows Nest Honeymoon Suite. Much more private than a number of the other villas we saw. Although be warned! You must be fit. Lots of walking up and down. Lots and lots. No way to avoid it unless you don't leave your room (which is possible but we like to explore). The Best and Most Gorgeous stair-master ever. Breakfast is great! And the staff more than lovely.
