Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNo cups or kettle. Need to take your own travel kettle and 2cups , spoon etc. We were lucky as friends who live close by gave us one plus cups etc. Lidl close by. A good SYNKA supermarket towards Maleme that sell a lot of cheap plastic bowls, plates, spoons, tea towels etc. A massive area downstairs in the supermarket that sells the above. This is not a bad review about the Elena. There were 2 glasses in the room.
Very clean room. Air Con good. Plenty of hot water. Fridge.

I love the Elena and it was my 2nd time back visiting. Simple, clean accomodation with a lovely pool and balcony to watch the sunset. . Excellent value for money. Manager Stavro and his mother Elena are kind and very helpful. I especially loved the warm welcome I got and being greeted each day by a big smile from the wonderful Elena. Perfect and quiet location in a tranquil area, away from the main tourist strip, but only 5 mins walk to small groceries shop & a few restaurants and bars, and 5 mins the other way to bus top. Family run bakery 2 mins round the corner. Thank you Stavro for my perfect, peaceful stay

IrelandYou can hear absolutely everything outside the rooms. Doors banging + cleaners making noise early in the mornings etc so it can be very hard to get sleep but that was the only issue
Very near shop, bus stop and beach. Good restaurants all within walking distance. 35 minute bus ride away from city of chania. Rooms were cleaned every single day with fresh towels and sheets every 2/3 days. we spent two weeks here and it was excellent value for money. Great place to stay if you’re looking to get away as it is very peaceful location.

GreeceVery old room. With 200 euros maximum they could change those old curtains drawers posters etc. i mean , they dont make efforts to change the very old furnitures and items which could change completely the room furthermore the pool color was fading, it seems it was not painted correctly or they used wrong materials, this colour stays in your body and you might also drink it by mistake which i am sure is not that healthy indeed. My adivse is repaint the pool , change the old fashioned items and devices and the rooms will be perfect.
Extremely clean room, parking space, and polite owners

LuxembourgThe bathroom of our appartement has some problems as there are some leaks - there is water a bit everywhere on the floor. Maybe with a small investment improvements can be done. The mattresses were a bit inconfortable, I had neck pain after sleeping in them a couple of nights. Sometimes hot water was not available when taking a shower.
I would give 10/10 for the price/quality ratio - the appartement was big, with 2 bedrooms and quite cheap. The cleaning lady was passing by each day and changing the bed sheets, towels and taking out the garbage. I also had a lot of money in cash and nothing happened to them. The communication with the host was very good as well, an iron was immediately given on request. A nice pastry shop, supermarket and remote quite beach were nearby. A lot of parking places if you come with your own vehicle. Air conditioning was working great. The kitchen was working great and nicely equipped.

United KingdomThe mattresses were a bit hard, but this did not detract from the pleasure of being there.
I loved my stay at the Elene and was sad to leave. It is in a lovely, peaceful location, away from the main tourist areas - an absolute bonus! - yet only a 5 mins walk to a little mini supermarket, delicious bakery, beach, and about 6 or 7 mins walk to the bus stop, which takes you into Chania. Stavros, the owner, gave me an iced coffee on the house when I arrived, and kindly accommodated me in an upstairs apartment, as per my prior request. From my balcony there were wonderful views, of the mountains, countryside and a bit of the sea. Exactly what I wanted! I watched the beautiful sunset every night over the hills from there. (Ask for apartment no.20 !) The apartment was clean and spacious, the cleaning lady was so sweet and polite. Everyday, I was greeted by a warm smile and a wave hello from Stavros' mother as I came down to the pool, which is surrounded by beautiful flowers - I could smell the wonderful scent of Frangipani from my balcony! I think the accomodation and facilities are excellent value for money, especially considering the decent sized pool. The small bar is well stocked and the iced coffees are deliciously refreshing! Thank you Stavros for providing a beautiful little oasis for rest and peace.
