Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

This is the second time we have stayed here. It’s a delightful place to stay. The house is elegant, the rooms very comfortable and the location is perfect. And, above all, the staff are really thoughtful and welcoming

The location is wonderful, right at the heart of Andros. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable, but what really made our stay was the kindness of the staff. And the superb breakfast!

United StatesIf you can't handle stairs, this may not be the place for you. There is no elevator and lots of beautiful marble spiral staircase! Goggle maps will never get you close to this place. Advanced directions to public parking within a walkable distance weren't provided (and I'm not sure they would have been helpful if they had been provided as "available parking" seems to differ by day). Make sure you have a way of contacting the staff for help upon arrival. (They came by motorcycle when we called to rescue us (so we could follow them to the parking lot and show us where the hotel itself was). Expect to have to walk a considerable distance to the hotel with your bags.
Hosts were very friendly and helpful. They helped with every aspect of our visit (places to see, things to do, places to eat, etc...) The breakfast was very nice (with some variation day to day). It appeared to be made from scratch on the premises. The location is on the main street (closed to cars) in the old town with lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance. It is charming. The hotel is in a historic building and beautifully restored/decorated.

United KingdomNothing at all. But note that there is no lift at the property (Hotel Egli makes this very clear at booking) and there are two flights of stairs to the top rooms. Anyone with mobility issues should think twice or ask for the first floor. Also the hotel is right next to a church. If you stay for any length of time you will hear bells. They don't peel daily and they don't last - but you will hear them.
The decor and furniture is in keeping with the classical style of the building and makes it very attractive indeed. It's a great little hotel just off the main pedestrian street in Chora (Andros). At check in Maria, (who is a fluent English speaker (and other languages too I believe)) introduced me to the hotel and the facilities and told me that I mustn't miss the breakfast because it was "exquisite". Well.......breakfast is overseen by a second Maria. It was a confection of local bread, local cheese, an egg dish of the day - the first day was just the best - scrambled eggs Greek style, Greek yoghurt, fruit salad and nut mix and local honey, and the icing on the cake a selection of Maria's home made jams. I stayed four days and was unable to sample them all but highlights if you are on your way - tomato (yes tomato jam), fig, blueberry, orange with bergamot and apricot. Before my coffee I had a cup of herbal tea using local lemon verbena and sage. Really special. At check in Maria produced a home made glass of lemonade and on my last night I had the pleasure of sampling two home made liqueurs. During my stay she produced home made Spanakopita and pizza. I met Costas who also who works at the hotel and spoke about the ship owning history to the building and other interesting facts about Andros. Chora is a magical place for me and having discovered the Egli after many years I hope to be able to stay again in future. I would not hesitate to recommend this little gem of a place. Honestly, I was treated like family and Maria, Maria and Costas are just the kindest people. THANK YOU.

United KingdomIf anything, the bathroom felt a little bit dated, but it was clean and functional.
Fantastic location in the centre of town. The staff were extremely hospitable and helpful in giving us tips about things to do. The balcony was a lovely place to sit in the evening. The breakfast was great with home made jams and drinks every morning and we even got treated to some wine and nibbles one evening. All in all, a very homely feel.

United Statesthe hotel was fabulous. We couldn't have asked for a better place. The location was close to the start of many hikes, restaurants, grocery store and numerous coffee shops. The street in front of hotel was quiet and beautiful. The staff at the hotel were fantastic. They were extremely helpful especially with bus information, excellent cooks (breakfast was delicious with fresh ingredients and homemade preserves)and made our staff very special. Maria who greeted us and looked after us so well in every way with special breakfasts, and great mountain tea. and special lemonade and for our last night a plate of meses and great white wine as we sat on our little terrace overlooking the church square and staircase. BelgiumThe hotel is in the centre of Chora - shops and restaurants within short walking distance. Although we arrived much earlier than check-in time, we received a warm welcome from Maria and were shown to our room. The room looks old fashioned but is lacking nothing. Good breakfast with home made jams, yoghurt, eggs, juice. Hospitality gets a new meaning here. Excellent stay.

United StatesThe shutters don't completely block the light. The room rate was more than I usually pay, but I do recognize that Andros Chora is a higher-end location than I usually stay at.
The hotel is perfectly located on the main pedestrianized street in the center of town. My room was beautifully decorated and the bed was super comfy. The daily cleaning was immaculate. The outstanding thing about my stay at the Egli was the staff, particularly Maria. She is a superb cook and host. Breakfast was plentiful, homemade, and graciously served. When it was more than I could finish, Maria offered to wrap things up for me to enjoy later in the day. On more than one occasion when I was there in the evening, she offered me a homemade iced herbal drink or juice or raki. I was sad to say good-bye.

United StatesMy stay at Egli Hotel was great! This was the best Greek hospitality I’ve experienced. The hosts Maria and Maria were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast made by Maria was delicious and large. They offered bread, toast, fresh jams and jellies made by Maria, hard boiled eggs, a large pastry baked fresh with ingredients from Maria’s garden, yogurt with honey, local cheese, fruit bowel, fresh juices, coffee and tea. The breakfast alone is worth the stay. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The shower had excellent water pressure. The location is perfectly in the center so you are near the bus stop, shops, restaurants, beaches, and hiking trails. I wish I could have stayed longer. And hope to return soon. I highly recommend booking a stay at Egli Hotel.

AustraliaA minor point - on our first night we kept our window open and it was a little noisy. Resolved by closing the window the following nights.
The staff were absolutely wonderful and made our stay. The hotel is well located, very clean and has great early 1900s character and a lovely ambience. We had breakfasts included; each day was a different selection of delicious homemade and local products made in kitchen by the lovely Maria. The small touches, such as little loukoumakia sweets in the room on arrival, highlight the attention the staff take to make you feel at home. The very knowledgeable Maria at reception gave us all the inside info on where to go and what to see. It was like having family welcoming you to their home.
