Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaI don't think there is anything I did not like.
The location was perfect, being close to restaurants and the beach. I enjoyed the breakfast every morning and being welcomed so much the staff both Maria's and Costas ( not sure of the spelling). They really made us feel like family, and they are just the best!! Very helpful with any questions we had, and overall, what a great experience. We miss them!

Fabulous location in the centre of the town with easy access to the shops, beaches , bus station and walking routes. It was also very peaceful at night. The staff were exceptionally friendly and cheerful. The breakfast was delicious and the left overs wrapped up for a picnic lunch if wanted. Thank you to both Marias for making us so welcome.

United StatesThe room was exactly what I expected ! We had a little porch looking over the main street and although we were so close to everything it was still quiet. The location was fantastic and the staff were so kind. I could not have asked for a better stay. This is a more traditional Greek hotel which I loved.

ItalyI would invest a bit on better pillows for a better sleep to keep improving, but overall we had a very good stay and I would recommend it.
The ladies who manage it, lovely and available, the homemade jams were really good ad we felt very welcome, both when communicating in English and in Greek. Rooms are cleaned daily. Positions is great, the room was spacious and the structure as an old town house now renewed has its appeal.

United KingdomNothing I can think of.
We stayed for four nights and had an amazing time. The hotel is a beautiful traditional townhouse in the centre of Chora and has an elegant hallway and spiral cantilever staircase. The rooms are perfect and have everything that is required, while some of them also have a beautiful view of the main pedestrian route through the city centre. The staff was great and the breakfast was perfect comprising mostly local and homemade products.

United StatesIf you can't handle stairs, this may not be the place for you. There is no elevator and lots of beautiful marble spiral staircase! Goggle maps will never get you close to this place. Advanced directions to public parking within a walkable distance weren't provided (and I'm not sure they would have been helpful if they had been provided as "available parking" seems to differ by day). Make sure you have a way of contacting the staff for help upon arrival. (They came by motorcycle when we called to rescue us (so we could follow them to the parking lot and show us where the hotel itself was). Expect to have to walk a considerable distance to the hotel with your bags.
Hosts were very friendly and helpful. They helped with every aspect of our visit (places to see, things to do, places to eat, etc...) The breakfast was very nice (with some variation day to day). It appeared to be made from scratch on the premises. The location is on the main street (closed to cars) in the old town with lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance. It is charming. The hotel is in a historic building and beautifully restored/decorated.

United KingdomNothing at all. But note that there is no lift at the property (Hotel Egli makes this very clear at booking) and there are two flights of stairs to the top rooms. Anyone with mobility issues should think twice or ask for the first floor. Also the hotel is right next to a church. If you stay for any length of time you will hear bells. They don't peel daily and they don't last - but you will hear them.
The decor and furniture is in keeping with the classical style of the building and makes it very attractive indeed. It's a great little hotel just off the main pedestrian street in Chora (Andros). At check in Maria, (who is a fluent English speaker (and other languages too I believe)) introduced me to the hotel and the facilities and told me that I mustn't miss the breakfast because it was "exquisite". Well.......breakfast is overseen by a second Maria. It was a confection of local bread, local cheese, an egg dish of the day - the first day was just the best - scrambled eggs Greek style, Greek yoghurt, fruit salad and nut mix and local honey, and the icing on the cake a selection of Maria's home made jams. I stayed four days and was unable to sample them all but highlights if you are on your way - tomato (yes tomato jam), fig, blueberry, orange with bergamot and apricot. Before my coffee I had a cup of herbal tea using local lemon verbena and sage. Really special. At check in Maria produced a home made glass of lemonade and on my last night I had the pleasure of sampling two home made liqueurs. During my stay she produced home made Spanakopita and pizza. I met Costas who also who works at the hotel and spoke about the ship owning history to the building and other interesting facts about Andros. Chora is a magical place for me and having discovered the Egli after many years I hope to be able to stay again in future. I would not hesitate to recommend this little gem of a place. Honestly, I was treated like family and Maria, Maria and Costas are just the kindest people. THANK YOU.

United KingdomIf anything, the bathroom felt a little bit dated, but it was clean and functional.
Fantastic location in the centre of town. The staff were extremely hospitable and helpful in giving us tips about things to do. The balcony was a lovely place to sit in the evening. The breakfast was great with home made jams and drinks every morning and we even got treated to some wine and nibbles one evening. All in all, a very homely feel.
