Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The place was exactly as in the photos, everything brand new, very clean, great attention to all the details, it is really a very cute mini apartment, large windows, air conditioning and a very large fan positioned on the ceiling, very nice furnishings. The perfect kitchen, brand new and good quality pots and pans, nothing was missing. Large bathroom and very spacious kitchenette, everything brand new. Very kind owner. It was the only place in Matala that respected all the expectations.

Beautiful, big and clean room with a nice view, balcony and kitchen corner. Very good quality for money. Free parking in front and walking distance to restaurants and beach. Matala is a must see place. Small and beutiful with nice restaurants facing the see. I did not like the beach though, it was very crowded and the water has big stones and waves. We arrived after 13:00 and there was no sunbed available.

SwedenSmall but nice and functional rooms that works well, great beds (in 201). A few kitchen items for a basic breakfast on the balcony. No juice presser (to make fresh orange juice in the mornings) but there is a 24/7 coffee shop just 200 m down the road). Location is good, just a few minutes to Matala center and easy parking (on the street or beside the house). We stayed for 4 nights and loved it. We would gladly stay here again. No tv but we then again we never use it on vacations. Sound from the hall will be heard but once guests are in their rooms we did not hear anything, nice and quiet. Maybe missing some shelves to put things.

The locations is quite good, just a few minutes to the beach. Even it is located on a main road it was quiet and we were able to sleep at night with an open window. The room was clean and the kitchen well equipped. The owner was very friendly, good reachable and very helpful. Is is a good choice.

EstoniaReallly bad pillows, hard and high like airmatress. As good sleep is priority service then you should not cut back on this. Doors are not soundoroof, so your wellbeing depends on neighbours.
Good budget option, 10 min walk to the beach and restaurants. All clean and quiet surrounding. Ok bathroom. Very good, strong wifi. Pictures give a bit more modern look than reality but stlli all is nice and good. Very big terrace. Flexible check-in. Parking by the house. Some tableware and kettle to prepare small breakfast.

Very nice rooms in a calm area of matala. Very friendly owner and staff that make you feel at home. Rooms are cleaned every day. Nice parking next to the apartment for when you rent a car.

HungaryDespite of the apartment is located next to the main road , the location is very good, it takes around 6-7 minutes walk to get to the beach and the center of Matala. It has free parking. The rooms are simple, but you find everything what is necessary for your stay and comfort ( towels, air condition, plates to eat, enough space for your luggages). The bathroom is spacious. The owner is flexible with the arrival time, that we highly appreciated.
