The location was absolutely wonderful for good walks, the various self catering kitchen spaces meant that it was easier to find a quiet time to cook and eat. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay again!

It would be useful to have a light switch by the door in the pods, rather than having to stretch over the bed.

We stayed in the outdoor pods, which were basic but with very comfortable beds, under trees in the garden. The hostel is an historic building, looking a bit like a castle, with panels explaining the history. It's in an amazing countryside location on the moors with great views of the hills, birdlife, and footpaths all around, There's plenty of room for children to run around, and the breakfast and evening meal were both very good and tasty, and great value. We'll stay longer next time to explore more of the area.

Not YHA's fault but we didn't sleep well due to noisy school group in main hostel and group next to us in the land pod were up listening to music until 1:30am.. please be considerate of your neighbours or go wild camping!!

Beautiful setting, the land pod was brilliant - spacious and comfortable. The kids had a fab time in the den! Great BBQ area and picnic table. Kitchen and toilets were clean and everything there as required.

The landpod was an amazing experience. So lovely to be so warm and cosy on an exceptionally comfy mattress. The only thing I didn't like was the led light outside which seemed to be on permanently. Really bad for moths apparently and I didn't like it either. I'd have given it 10 out of 10 if it wasn't for that. Lovely staff. 💚

Fantastic location and setting, rooms basic but clean and exceptional value for money. Also I thoroughly recommend paying for the breakfast buffet, exceptional quality and competitively priced.

Only thing I would say is book direct with the Lodge as I booked with Booking.com as I always use them and paid more.. We also ended up paying for a 4 people room and there was only 2 of us so worked out very expensive. I believe the Lodge could have corrected our booking price and contact Booking.com themselves to correct this mistake.... that is my only disappointment :(

This was an amazing stay, Beautiful surroundings, one local walk to pub met nice chatty friendly people. nice clean Kitchen to use and they do meals if you don't want to cook... what's not to like :)

Parking was bit tight as we did struggle to find space but nothing that affected our whole experience.

It is slight outside of the centre but the nature makes the trip worth it. We didn’t get to explore much but will definitely come again to make the most of the nature.

Loved the landpod, it was comfortable, warmer than I expected and the bed was very comfortable.
