Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe couldn't find the bins to put them out, which was fine, but as the owners had specifically asked us to do so we felt there should be some directions. The third step from the bottom on the stairs should have a warning sign as it is a different height than the others and all 4 of us fell on it at some point. The spa bath looked like it could do with a good clean along with the washing machine, and the flooring in the bathroom was very tired and had huge chips out of it. A TV remote for the bedroom would be a bonus, none of the 5 in the bedside drawer worked. HOWEVER....the house was clean,it had what we needed and was exceptionally reasonable for the area. And a dog friendly property in the North East is a rare find.
The bed was super comfy and we loved that it was dog friendly and that there was a dishwasher. The owners were very kind to make up the sofa bed as our 13 year old was most happy not to share a double bed with his brother! It was lovely and quiet, we were a little worried with it being next to the social club but we didn't hear a peep.

United KingdomThe location was not as close to the centre of Whitley Bay as I expected, it was actually a short drive away in New Hartley, which was somewhat disappointing. Perhaps this was my fault for just reading 'Whitley Bay' and not double checking the actual location.
The host was very accommodating and communication was excellent. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice and spacious. The house was clean and tidy throughout.

United KingdomI don't have anything bad to say about the house.
The house is clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We just needed a place to stay that was near enough to take part in the carnival and we had that and more! The bathroom is clean and has plenty of storage. The bath is amazing! All the beds are comfortable, I slept very well and so did my sons. The area is nice and peaceful, there is a nice little park around the corner for dog walks and it's very near to the beach. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back again.

We were let down by our original accommodation and found this at short notice, what we paid for the house was as much as we would have paid just for b&b so it was a winner. Great spot , roomy , clean and of course dog friendly, we were asked a couple of do's and don't's but Sean was great with communication. Comfortable bed and all home comforts. Off road parking as well.

Isle of ManRefurbished love to know where lost of wires hanging all over the place, No welcoming Food parcel left or toilet rolls, also a used bar of soap left on the bath side, (Milk and Bread would help if arriving after the local shop shuts). Also local club across the road where two fights broke out one on the Saturday Evening and one Sunday afternoon, we decided to depart on the Sunday at 7pm due to the fight.
Location was great for where we wanted to be, good Bus service from outside the house to Newcastle or Blyth. Apart from that not a lot

United KingdomThe property is supposed to be family friendly and to that end, there is a next to me crib for a baby, a trundle bed for a small child and a highchair. However, there are no child friendly cups, plates, bowls etc. As a family with children aged 6 and under, these are a necessity! Also, the garden was overgrown with weeds and we were unable to let the children out there due to glass bottles being left from the previous occupier(?) and dog poop which my children stepped in on the first night. Whilst we appreciate it is a dog friendly property, it is also supposed to be a family friendly property and I therefore expected to be able to let my children outside without fear of them getting injured or stepping in dog poop. There were a few other small niggles, the bathroom floor gets soaked whilst having a shower (literally puddles of water), the bedrooms at least could do with a refresh in décor, there was a hand wash bottle in the bathroom but it was empty - either supply it or don't and my children found used cotton buds in the bathroom bin on the first night which had either not been emptied or not done properly. I'm aware this could have been worse but again, 6 and under and prone to put things where they shouldn't! Cleaning overall could be better; we had to move the sofa due to dropped toys and found that it had obviously not been moved for a while with the amount of dust and dog hair we discovered.
The space was generous, the shower was amazing and just a short 10 minute drive to the beach at Seaton Sluice and Whitley Bay
