Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe area around the hotel kind of sketchy, not unsafe (we walked each evening) but lots of vacant buildings and kind of dirty.
Restaurant/bar and outdoor area nice, food marginal. Facilities need some attention.

United States of AmericaThe only thing I'd say I didn't like (which really wasn't that much of an issue) was that the room didn't have a small fridge in it to keep water cold. I just went to the little market next door to buy cold water in the mornings but it would have been nice to store some bottled water in a fridge. That isn't a showstopper for me, however. When in England, do as the English!
I absolultely loved my stay at The White Rock Hotel. I'd go back there in a second. It was a great price for the location, being literally right across the beach and from the pier! My room had a queen-sized bed, which was perfect for just me, and the room was spotless, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and super clean, and the water pressure was strong and perfect. The weather in late May is blustery and rainy, so don't be surprised by that if you're new to Hastings or your visiting from somethere other than the UK. That said, you can enjoy a nice meal inside the hotel while looking out at the ocean from inside the dining area. AND, it was quiet in my room despite the concerts taking place across the street at the pier. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful and personable. This might end up being the place I stay at every time I visit Hastings from San Francisco. It's a lovely place, and you're within 15 min walking distance to either St. Leonard's-On-Sea or Old Town Hastings. Fabulous!

United KingdomThe bed was creaky and the mattress springs were annoying. I think the mattress needed replacing. It sloped a bit and was a bit uncomfortable.
The sea view. The staff were all lovely.

United KingdomUnfortunately, we had no water for a shower in the morning and no hairdryer in our bedroom for the evening before. Had I known, I would've brought my own as I have quite frizzy hair! However, these minor inconveniences didn't affect our stay.

United KingdomSome of thew decor is a little dated but overall as a seaside hotel in Hastings I think they have done a nice job.
Really friendly staff and warm welcome. Great place to stay right on the seafront. We didn't eat breakfast or drink at the bar but it looked like it had nice views over the beach. Room was very large and spacious.

United KingdomThe staff were very warm and welcoming from the outset. The hotel has a very relaxed vibe and sitting in the bar for a drink or meal in the evening was so relaxed. The staff are so friendly. I would definately return to this hotel if I went back to Hastings. Location on the beach front was perfect.

United KingdomThe hot drink facilities were rather bland and were located in a cupboard without a light. I spilt boiling water in the tiny, dark drinks recess. Rather a petty fault to mention but otherwise it was faultless.
Early Spring weekend. Premium king room with Juliet balcony and patio doors and overbath shower. Wonderful views with comfortable chairs perched in front of the doors. Superb watching and relaxing. Great whilst the sun was shining. This visit was also a windy weekend watching the waves crash. Don't know if I would like that room location when people are sat out on the terrace smoking and drinking, maybe a bit smelly and noisy. Check out was 12 noon, excellent. Free car parking behind the hoteal if you get there at a reasonable time.
