Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe garden was a bit unkept front and back. My family commented on the weeds not being tended to. The house would have benefited from some basics being provided. More toilet roll, more than one tea towel, cooking oil, topped up salt and pepper, hand soap in the kitchen.
The welcome pack was a lovely thing to arrive to. The house was very spacious and clean. The kids room was great for the children to go off and play in giving the adults some much needed space! The house was in an excellent location very close to town and the beach.

United KingdomThe garden could do with a bit of attention. The stairs are very steep with low ceilings but that’s what old property is about
Location, parking, comfortable, kitchen had everything you could want. The art work. The original features, the kids room - big hit!!

United KingdomWe had some small issues but these did not spoil our stay. 3 x TV's .... but not all remotes were working. We could not use the DVD player as the TV was on standby and we could not get that TV to turn on. We changed the batteries but still no luck. (The batteries were corroded in the kitchen remote). The HDMI port in the kitchen TV did not work either so we could not play our special 60th birthday slideshow for our friend on the DVD player or by using the port in the other TV.. The back door could only be locked from the outside so this needs looking at. Only one toilet roll in each bathroom so suggest guests take their own supply. No oven gloves in kitchen. Gardens could do with a tidy.
West Cottage is a beautiful property set in the heart of Cromer. The town centre is just a few steps away. Spacious accommodation with an extra large, well-equipped kitchen. Good sized bedrooms, one with en-suite. Nice-sized lounge and 2 x other side rooms plus a large dining room. Very clean bed linen and towels. One en-suite, one bathroom upstairs and one toilet on ground floor. As advertised, the stairs ARE very steep and need careful negotiation especially if elderly or when carrying bags. Top bedrooms are accessible via 2 lots of stairs (the twin bedroom is accessed via entering the staircase "inside" the master bedroom). Our group of ladies had a fabulous time at West Cottage and Sophie was very obliging with great communications. We loved our stay!

United KingdomProperty was amazing. My husband found the stairs were difficult for him as he has disabilities and we were not aware that the stairs were very steep but with assistance we managed. Had a bit of a problem with the key code but that soon got sorted and we got in. The owner was very good at answering any questions that we had. All the facilities were very good.

United KingdomThe garden when we arrived was overgrown grass about 6 inches long, massive weeds and dirty & broken garden toys strewn around. It looked totally neglected. Our 1 year old grandson couldn’t play in it. A gardener arrived the day before we left to cut the grass. Road noisy and the double glazing stopped this but it was very hot so we couldn’t have the bedroom windows open unfortunately. Repair issues: In the kitchen electric plastic ducting had fallen down below the units onto the surface toaster. Microwave cable needs repair. Light fitting in hallway is falling out Battery in fire alarm on first floor between bedrooms needs changing Windows needed cleaning Toilet seat loose in family bathroom and shower drain blocked. Lights not working in conservatory.
Beautiful interesting historic house, very well equipped and tastefully furnished, spacious, lots of rooms. Amazing kitchen with super large wall tv; patio doors onto garden. Nice playrooms with toys. Parking for 2 cars. New modern bathrooms with soft white towels. Lots of seating in sunny secluded garden A very short walk to the beach, town. and railway station.

AustraliaWe didn’t like the inability to start the heating system, even though we looked for instructions, considering it was Summer it was still cold.
It was accommodating for 8 people, had a lovely big kitchen, solarium for catching the run rays, and had good size dining table and lounge room. The bathrooms had been upgraded and were lovely with one having a big bath, and gorgeous tiles. We managed the quirky hidden stairs and kept us amused every day. We were able to park our large vehicle in this location, as the location of this property was near the middle of the township and beaches. We would recommend this property.
