Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe house keeping was confusing, no set place to put your towel that matched with your bed (so no one got confused with towels), no one came to make my bed (as expected) but one day all my things were moved and my bed was made. Very confusing.
Beautiful location and very helpful staff who were able to move me from a top bunk to a single bed after I spoke to them about an injury I had.

United KingdomI just like everything about Selina Brighton. In the morning i grab a coffee and towel, cross the road and im on the empty beach, admiring remains of the old burned pier, blue water and the sound of pebles moving by waves :) swimming alone... Breakfast is always delicious, chill study zone feels so comfy and homey :) and my most favourite thing sbout Selina is - PRIJA hair and body products, and that Selina is following the sustainable standards.

United KingdomWe were in room 106 and the light in the room when you walked in was connected a light in the room by the bed, the light by the bed started flickering and then it stopped working, it was on but it was dark and flickering. So we couldn’t turn the main hall lamp on in fear it would break even more. we let the hotel staff know and they got ahold with someone but the person didn’t come to fix it during our stay but the staff were quick to try and sort the issue out!
It was very specious! The room was always at the right temperature for me and my boyfriend! When we got into the room we noticed the bathroom and how lovely and well decorated it looked. In the room with the table there was a kettle, with tea bags, milk, sugar, coffee etc, which was nice in the mornings! The cleaners regularly cleaned the rooms while we were out which was nice, the breakfast in the morning was great too! We had to pay £8 per person at the front desk only because I thought I picked it as an option while booking but I didn’t! The staff were lovely too always made us feel welcome, check in wasn’t until 3pm and we got there at 11am the staff held onto our lounge in a locked room so they were safe until check in!

United KingdomThe Wifi didn't reach the room I was in. There was no socket or reading light in the bunk bed (I was on the top bunk).

United KingdomPoor 1st impression - the restaurant at the front (separate business to the hotel) is closed and therefore makes the hotel look closed and shabby. The reception and communal stairs/lift had a feel of a high-end hostel rather than a hotel -so we were worried about the room but didn’t need to be - it was great!
Sea facing superior room was excellent! Lovely decor, great view, comfy bed and really spacious . The hotel is also in a great location

United KingdomI was expecting more. I have been wanting to stay in the Brighton Selina for a while now, having visited other Selinas around the world. It was a little underwhelming. I had to work remotely for two days, but the main restaurant was closed and the only place was a stuffy and hot coworking area in the back. The breakfast was limited but good. The rooms are simple and feel a little outdated. Windows did not open. The vibe generally wasn't that of other Selinas, not lively or welcoming. I stayed there on some hot summer days. The coworking bar and hotel reception did only have warm fizzy drinks and no ice. Everything felt like they are treating it without love or care.
Amazing location right by the beach

PhilippinesThere was a garbage truck collecting the bins at night which disrupted our sleep, but other than that it was good.
The staff were very friendly and readily helped us out when we needed extra pillows, a fan and info on the free yoga class. They also gave us recommendations on where to go. I also liked the size of the room and we had a good view of the beach front.

United KingdomAlthough we were very happy with our stay and it definitely did the job for our weekend home, we felt that the price was too high for what was offered. The room was quite basic compared to the front receptions vibe, there was no space in order to get ready ( makeup station ) so had to sit on the floor in-front of the mirror on the wall. For the price we paid we expected a tv, there was sockets in place so couldn’t see why there wasn’t a tv. We booked the double plus room but felt we had more of a standard double room. Compared to other hotels we have visited for a similar price we felt the room lacked the ‘minor details’ they would make the stay that extra special
We did not eat at the hotel so cannot speak on that. Great location, lovely sea view and nice big windows. Staff were brilliant and very friendly.

United KingdomThe exterior of the property needs a little refreshment! It, initially, doesn't look appealing. It was lovely to have coffee and tea in reception, but a kettle and tea/ coffee making facilities in each room would be beneficial. There was a hairdryer, which was great.
A group of us shared a family room. It was spacious, clean and the beds were really comfortable. The shower was great. The location was super. Very close to all activities; just a short walk to most.

PolandHowever, there was one significant downside to my stay. The lack of curtains on the bunk beds completely detracted from the comfort of sleeping. It felt less private and disrupted my ability to rest well.
I recently stayed at this hostel and overall, it was a positive experience. The cleanliness of the hotel was impressive; the rooms and common areas were well-maintained and spotless. A notable convenience was the availability of tea and coffee, which you could take to your room or on a stroll. The hotel also had an elevator, making it accessible for everyone. The location is fantastic, right next to the beach, providing beautiful views and easy access for a morning walk or a day in the sun. Additionally, it’s close to shops and restaurants, which was very convenient for dining and any necessary shopping.

SpainDuring my stay at the hotel, I noticed that cleanliness could be improved. While the overall experience was pleasant, there were moments when a more attentive eye to detail would have made a significant difference. Ensuring that all areas are spotless and well-maintained would enhance the guest experience tremendously.
The location was incredible, right on the sea front and close to everything. The room was very comfortable, and the views were amazing. We could see the old Brighton West Pier from our room's windows.

GermanyWe only stayed for two nights, but the room was not cleaned (trash emptied) in between (not a big issue though). Also the restaurant belonging to the Hostel is currently closed for refurbishment.
We stayed at a standard room with a double bed. My partner, my 6-year-old and I. I only booked for two adults, but bringing my son along was no problem. Staff was super nice and very helpful. Super nice also for working remotely, since there is a working space there with outlets and free wifi everywhere.

United Kingdomthe fabric headboard of the bed was very very dusty - right above where I was sleeping. the bin in the bathroom hadn't been emptied from the previous guest. I didn't find the bed comfortable, but this is mostly personal preference. (it was too soft and felt like it was at a slight angle.)
the staff were really helpful and friendly!! great location. fun aesthetics. easy to store my luggage during the day,
