Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere wasn’t anything that we didn’t like and hope to come back again soon.
Loved the location, so quiet and peaceful, the beautiful building and decor was stunning. The hosts were so kind and friendly, they made you feel at home, which was so lovely. We travelled with our dog, there was space for him to run free and every little detail was catered for to make it dog friendly and easy for us to keep him clean after running around in the field and moors!

United KingdomOur bed was not the most comfortable but that’s because we are use to a soft mattress. Tv did not work in our room and WiFi is t the greatest if completing work etc, but who needs TVs and computers when at a beautiful place like this. Really can not fault the place. Our satnav took us down some very unsuitable roads but it was an adventure.
This property and location is stunning. Food amazing, room was perfect, we loved the bath in the bedroom and the views are out of this world. This place is very special. Hidden away and perfect to relax in. Loved the log burners and honest bar was nice to Socialise in.

United KingdomProbably the only small thing would be the limited menu options for dinner as when we initially booked we were anticipating a bigger menu as this shows up as a property with a restaurant from memory. I can understand this from a cost and waste perspective though. For added info, the menu changes regularly and the property website and app does not give much clarity (perhaps the current menu could be uploaded?). We were sent the menu once we booked and when we stayed this was a variety of pies with side veg and potatoes and a set dessert. Having said all of this, the food was tasty, so no complaints from that perspective. They provide other options for guests with dietary requirements if told in advance and I'm sure they'd also do their best to accommodate you if you just didn't like pie or the set dessert!
Beautiful and characterful building with spacious rooms. Comfy bed and bedding. Lovely shared areas within the building with log burners, well furnished and decorated. Honesty bar and DVD collection is a nice touch. Very nice breakfast. Very dog friendly (with surcharge). Lovely and accommodating owners.

This is a lovely little hotel, perhaps more a B&B, for visits to Dartmoor. Beautiful location with enormous garden. We felt really at home. Nice little bar with good wine, cozy living room with fireplace and rooms are top. We warmly recommend Weeke Barton.

United KingdomWe are becoming old crocs and the spiral staircase and slight undulations and steps necessary in an old building made it a little tricky for us going upstairs and to the bathroom. We would be more careful choosing the room another time. The restaurant isnt always open and it wasn’t clear on the booking site. We ate at a local pub and it was a disappointment.
It is a beautiful house, full of character, furnished comfortably and decorated sympathetically. We only met Sam and he was extremely efficient, very friendly, a very good host. The location is superb and the gardens are incredibly attractive and well maintained. If you are looking for hygge in England, go to Weeke Barton. Bucolic peaceful warm. The breakfast was spot on. Quality ingredients well prepared.

United KingdomI would prefer to have the option of dining in the hotel in the evening which is why I gave a score of 9 rather than 10 but I do realise that with a hotel of this type and size that that is not necessarily practical. However if you're happy to eat out then I would highly recommend staying at Weeke Barton.
The ambiance at Weeke Barton is lovely and very relaxing. The hotel is very stylish with a mix of contemporary and antique furnishings and is very welcoming. Although the hotel doesn't serve evening meal every evening they were most accomodating when we arrived at 5.30pm and arranged some home-made muesli and yoghurt for us, which was very filling. The hosts are friendly, professional and very knowledgeable about the local area. I've stayed several times when visiting my daughter at Exeter University and think this is the most charming place to stay in the area.

Stunning location, perfect welcome, great atmosphere, seriously comfortable beds, amazing breakfast (which was so good we had planned to leave at the crack of dawn on the sunday but hung around just so we could experience breakfast again) and the cleanest accommodation I think I've ever stayed in, everywhere was pristine. Will definitely book again and highly recommend!

United KingdomThere aren’t keys for the rooms as they only lock from the inside, so a safe would give a bit of reassurance over valuables.
Jo and Sam are as friendly as you could wish, with lots of local knowledge and recommendations, while never being overly attentive. Breakfast was great: as large a portion as you wanted, with fresh ingredients all ready and waiting at your table when you come down, filling us nicely until the evening. The building is tastefully decorated - a perfect balance of modern and country character - with lovely vast grounds overlooking picturesque views. Beds were comfy with super soft linen, while the bathrooms had lovely toiletries, big towels and even down to thoughtful touches of cotton wool and cotton swabs provided. The whole experience was just so relaxing, the place so nice, the owners so warm, it must be called the Weeke Barton because you’ll wish you were staying at least another week longer.

United KingdomSam who greeted us at the door quickly showed us around but seemed quite distant. Jo who served us was a bit more engaging. We didn’t realise we couldn’t watch TV in our room just DVD’s. We were told they couldn’t get a good signal. It took us a while to find their DVD collection which was downstairs and part of their bar area. After we returned from dinner out we had problems setting up the TV integral DVD player. We had to phone Sam for help who quickly came up and addressed the issue. By way of courtesy it occurred to us he failed to enquire how our dinner was. We were offered their homemade award winning granola (per person an extra £5!) for breakfast but we declined. We felt somewhat uncomfortable to see an unopened granola package on our breakfast table a bit like a ‘for sale’ item. Fruit juice would have been nice but again we had an unopened big bottle placed next to the granola. Too embarrassed to ask if that was also going to incur an extra charge.
Delicious breakfast.
