Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe menu was very limited for vegetarian options, and the risotto overcooked, so we ate out after the first evening. There is no facility to dry jackets, boots, etc, after getting soaked while walking. Given the location and so many folk with dogs or just walking, a drying room would be a great addition
Loved the location right on the lake with lovely grounds to enjoy the sunshine with a drink.. Perfect for dog walking and a wander into the village, too. Very dog friendly, and the staff were super helpful with advice on walking routes, etc

Saudi ArabiaIt was nice with a good location close to the lake. But the price was a little bit high per a night.

United KingdomRoom was poor and right next to a road. Room could have been cleaner. Bathroom door couldn't be closed. No hairdryer and no replacement available. Breakfast was nice but evening food was cold/raw and not pleasant at all. Several people could be seen sending food back uneaten.
Great location & excellent friendly staff.

United KingdomThe room was nicely decorated, clean and had everything you’d need. The only downside was that we thought we were getting a double bed but it was 2 singles pushed together. It was a great size but there was an uncomfortable edge in the middle where the single beds met.
Beautiful hotel inside and out with stunning surrounding land leading to the lake. Dog friendly which is excellent. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. 10 minute walk to Coniston. On site parking. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again when visiting Coniston!

New ZealandThere was a noise from below which I think was the kitchen fridge which thudded noisily throughout the day, until around 10pm at night. Partly the location of the room. However, staff took this feedback very well and are looking into remediating it. The internet was very patchy: not great when I had work to do.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very comfy. Location was unbeatable: relaxing, beautiful by the lake.

SingaporeBed was soft. View into rear car park was slightly disappointing. Room was on ground floor. Upper floor would have bene better, plus as we booked two rooms, being closer together would have been better. The jetty was not accessible as it was damaged
Location, breakfast and dinner was excellent, tranquil location very close to the Lake

United KingdomThe rooms are comfortable however ours was a little on the warm side each evening. There was a stand alone air conditioning unit in the room, (some have fans) which we used every night on the fan setting as the air con setting was very noisy, which we reported. On our last night we also had a fire alarm going off at 2am resulting in a full evacuation for 20mins then again at 4am, both false alarms! Other than this we had an amazing stay and will return.
Fantastic venue, beautiful idillic location, great staff, lovely food - amazing breakfast every morning. Good size rooms with lovely views. Dog friendly. Thanks to Ollie, Mike and all staff for a memorable stay. Your hard work hasn't gone un-noticed!!

United KingdomMy room was very warm, a fan was provided but it was still uncomfortable to sleep as the fan was noisy. There was also a banging noise that went on quite late, not sure what was underneath my room but it was noisy.

United KingdomNo complaints!
Location was perfect for the end of the first day of walking the Cumbria Way. The staff were very welcoming (and sympathetic to tired walkers) and both the evening meal and breakfast hit the spot. It was extremely convenient to be able to pick up a packed lunch for the next day of walking.
