Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI was entirely happy with my stay.
The house was sympathetically restored, with rooms that were clean, comfortable and well designed. Breakfast was perfect for me, a self service light continental with juices, fruit and a choice of teas and coffee. Additionally there is a small kitchen on another floor where you can help your self to tea and coffee. There was free wifi, but I didn't use this. Karl was not on site while I was there but sent detailed instructions of how to find the property and he had arranged for his Sister and Brother in law to welcome me. They were friendly, helpful, and recommended somewhere to eat a short distance away. The location is good- just a mile away from where I was working, quiet, and just around the corner from a park. I would definitely visit again if I was in the area

Beautiful, spotless rooms. Great facilities and Karl was a fantastic host, nothing was too much trouble and his knowledge of the local area, bus routes, eateries etc…was second to none. We will definitely stay here again when in the area as it would take a lot to beat this quality of hospitality.

AustraliaOur only suggestion to perhaps enhance the experience would be to offer some toast and conserves or pastries as an option or in addition to cereal and fruit for breakfast.
Beautifully presented , clean and comfortable. Karl was very hospitable and most helpful.

United KingdomAbsolutely stunning building. A truly beautiful home. Tastefully decorated. Looks exactly like it does in the photos. Easy to find. Easy to park. Greeted on arrival by Karl who was lovely and really couldn't do enough for you, he even offered to carry my bag up the stairs. Thank you for being so thoughtful and nice. It's such a welcoming place and Karl has thought about everything - the sensored floor lights which guide you up the stairs to your room at night are a great touch. We found having kitchen facilities found on the middle floor such a great idea - absolutely no bother going across the hall or down some stairs to make a brew. Room 5 surpassed expectations and offered us everything we needed. Bed super comfortable and inviting. Great sized room and well laid out. Showeroom facilities were spot on for us. Peaceful surroundings and close by to major locations such as Anfield, Goodison Park and others. Transport links on the doorstep - literally! Fresh fruit, coffee and cereal breakfast offered is fantastic. Would entirely recommend and would 100% visit again. In fact, we're looking for excuses to come back this way just to utilise this place again :D

IsraelWould have been nice if there were bigger towels and better shampoo, yet really for one night it was OK. For a longer period I would recommend bringing your own shampoo.

United KingdomNothing really, but perhaps a minor comment. Breakfast with cereal, yogurts and fresh fruit was lovely and in our opinion could be further improved by the addition of pastries/toast and jam.
A wonderful restoration of a Victorian house. I first knew the house over 60 years ago when my Grandmother lived there. To recall it then and see it now reflects on the incredible job done by the owner. The bedrooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The owner is very helpful and cares that his guests enjoy their stay. Parking for the car on a quiet street adjacent to the house. Bus route into Liverpool about 5 minutes walk away. The breakfast room is delightful. We will certainly be returning for a future stay.

I had come to Liverpool to watch a play, and after looking at reviews and prices, chose Karl's property. I'm so pleased that I did. Communications were excellent from the onset, guiding me to the house and where to park, next to the property. (free). The property is delightful and has been renovated to an exceptionally high standard. My bedroom was spotless, the bed so comfy. Karl is an amazing host. He explained everything clearly and gave me taxi numbers and restaurant recommendations. He also offered ice for my G and Ts! Unfortunately, I had a heavy cold whilst there, which progressively got worse. Karl was so thoughtful, checking the room temperature and enquiring as to how I was feeling. The breakfast was scrumptious. A good choice of cereals, with yoghurts and fresh berries and fruit, plus tea and coffee. I would recommend Victorian Renovation and the lovely Karl without hesitation.

United KingdomI enjoyed the breakfast as this is the daily norm at home, but my husband would have liked toast or a pastry to finish off. We are not lovers of a full cooked breakfast, so this was sufficient. Coffee was very nice. Bathroom could have been warmer.
The owner Karl is friendly and welcoming. The building has been renovated to a very high specification, and his attention to detail is commendable. As soon as you walk through the front door, it feels lovely and warm. We had access to a small kitchen, which was great to make hot drinks whenever we wanted them. The bedroom was again warm and cosy. The bed was very comfortable. The accommodation is spotlessly clean. Fruit, yoghurt, and cereal at breakfast very tasty. Buses into Liverpool City Centre are very accessible from the property, and there are a few places to eat in Bootle Town centre.
