The fire doors bang allot, they need to be on open hinges that close if there is a fire. Or soft closures. The shower cubicle was dirty around the bottom. The breakfast area felt dated and unloved. I felt it was a shame as this could be an amazing hotel with more attention to detail. At present I would say it’s a comfortable hotel which is a bit dated in places.

The location of hotel was beautiful, short walk to iron bridge. Very pretty looking hotel from outside. Nice traditional tiles in the corridors. Comfortable bar and nice garden. Comfortable bad and pillows.

The room we had was very tired, had a small, hard double bed and a very small window. The bathroom is in need of an update too. It was fine for us but for the price I expected more! Breakfast was good but more options for cooked would have been good and a larger teapot!

The staff were very friendly and the general areas of the hotel had been updated and were very nice. The garden/bar area is lovely and with direct access to the park behind it, it’s a really nice place.

No double glazing and metal windows wouldn’t close due to warping. Danger of glass falling out as some putty missing. Food in Chez Maw restaurant very disappointing indeed, certainly poor value for money.

Wonderful position and outlook at front. Spacious clean room and en-suite. Staff very friendly and professional.

The sound proofing is not great. Ok - but can hear music in our bedroom from the bar - althugh as promised this ceased at 8pm onwards.

The decor of rooms is in the need of re -decorating.

Breakfast was good allbeit that the choice was somewhat the same choice each day. I did not request, boiled or eggs as omelletes so I do not know whether they could have been added as an alternative. Evening meals were good and well prepared. The staff were excellent and worked hard to ensure the holiday was enjoyable.

Didn't like not being shown a bill at the end of our lovely meal. What we owed was being sent straight to our room bill, without a chance ti check it.

There were a lot of stairs, a lift would have helped but I undertand the difficulty of installing one in such an old building.

The hotel was comfortable and clean. Our room was lovely with vews over the garden. Staff were curteoaus and friendly and teh hotel location very good. The gardens were delightful

We were in a first floor room and the stairs were a little steep and narrow. The shower leaked which we reported and were told it had been fixed, but obviously not completely.

There was plenty of parking, the hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and efficient. The hotel garden was pretty and led into a delightful park and riverside walk. The evening meal was delicious.

Bedroom a bit tired. Pillows too low and inadequate. Bathroom needs upgrade.
