Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We liked everything about Ty'n y Gwynt. We were in Flat 2 on the first floor with uninterrupted view of the castle on the hill across the road and the sound of the waves lapping on the beach a few hundred feet away. Sally was a warm, welcoming and helpful host. The accommodation is comfortable and well designed and the beds ( twin) were very comfortable. Although it was a short stay we really liked Criccieth and did a fabulous coastal walk to Port Talbot, catching the train back as well as travelled on the heritage railway from Port Talbot. There was a lot more we could have done. We will have to return!

Isle of ManSteep stairs to top floor - difficult to carry up luggage (I'm in my 80s - would be OK for someone younger). Could have done with more cutlery.
Excellent location. Easy to get to beach and shops. Railway station within walking distance. No problems with parking.

AustraliaAs we expected, there were stairs only to the top, but these turned out to be not as narrow as we experienced before.
We stayed in the apartment under the roof, with fantastic views of the castle to one side and the sea from the other window. Due to high ceilings and the open plan for the kitchen/living area, the apartment is very spacious and filled with light (even when it is raining). Parking is just across the road and was not problem. Criccieth is a lovely small seaside resort, with everything available that is needed (except a sandy beach, maybe). We had a very relaxing few days and would stay there again. Thank you Sally for having us

United KingdomWhat a wonderful place to stay. Sally could not have been more helpful and friendly. The rooms were beautifully decorated, with fantastic amenities. We forgot to pick up all of our belongings, and Sally was kind enough to post them back to us. The location of Ty'n y Gwent is excellent, located right next to the castle, and parking was easy. I cannot recommend this place enough, we will definitely be booking direct with Sally for our next trip to Wales. Wonderful!

United KingdomIt was nice (and quite unusual) to have 2 sofas in a 1 bed apartment, however the springs had sagged a bit. Easily remedied by adding one of the throw cushions under the sofa cushion. If you are short like me, you need to wave your arms a bit while taking a shower to keep the motion sensor light on, definitely keep the door open and the bedroom light on just in case! That didn't spoil the nice hot shower though, so just a minor thing really.
Lovely location right opposite Criccieth Castle, which is lit up at night and can be seen from one of the windows. The apartment was on the top floor and there was plenty of parking just opposite. The living space was very spacious with 2 sofas and a wall mounted TV. There was a well equipped kitchen area with fridge, oven, hob, microwave, kettle, toaster and even a dishwasher (not that I needed it). There was a separate dining table with a lovely view of the sea from the other window. The bedroom was large with an extremely comfy bed and a wardrobe with lots of hangers! There was a nice en-suite shower room too, the water was hot and the shower pressure very good. A bookcase on the lower landing offered a range of books to read. The apartment was very warm and cosy despite the awful weather. The WiFi worked and was easy to connect to. Sally was very friendly and on hand if I needed anything. I was also able to stay a bit later on checkout day as there was no one coming in to the apartment that day, which was appreciated.

Amazing stay in July, we had a very relaxing break in the top floor. The apartment, views and location were fantastic. Sea view from one window and castle, which is lit up at night, through the other. Didn't switch TV on at all with those views and with quirky book area on middle floor where can borrow books from. Apartment had everything we needed. 3 night break and spotted the dolphins twice in that time. Beach couple of minutes wander down the road, loved swimming in the sea each day. Sally was lovely and very helpful. Definitely hope to return.
