Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe hotel is set up a very steep hill so you have to be very fit to want to go up and down it all the time but it was close to St Ives and we were happy to do the climb
The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and has wonderful views. The swimming pool was lovely and we had a lovely room (sadly only a view of the car park). The train station was at our end of town too

United KingdomThe hotel had some excellent attributes, the grounds were lovely, staff friendly and very generously allowed us to park early and use facilities after we had checked out. Location to St Ives was great. Food was good and the bed was very comfortable.

United KingdomVery disappointed that the room was only serviced once throughout the whole week. We had to keep going to reception for toilet paper, tea, coffee etc. We saved up for a four star hotel but should have gone to a b and b, at least they make beds and service rooms.
Beautiful grounds, lovely for walking.

United KingdomThe Restaurant was disappointing. The food was disappointing for the price. The food didn’t reflect the fine dining potential of the Hotel. Also, the Treatments facility was closed in the Spa due to the lady being on holiday, (so no Hot Stones Massage ☹️) but the pool was open which was very pleasant and warm.
Room was adequate but cold, radiator not on so we requested a heater which was brought quickly and was fine. Did not have breakfast as too expensive. Went out for breakfast and meals into St Ives. View was OK, looking out on to trees.

United KingdomThe accommodation desperately needs up grading. We were in a one bedroom lodge which clearly hadn’t been used for several months if at all this year. If it hadn’t been for central heating on all the time the accommodation couldn’t have been stayed in as the place smelt of damp and several items in the accommodation was damp with spots of mould on. There was no telephone in the accommodation we had to use personal mobile phones to access the hotel reception. We were woken up at 07.30am by scaffolders removed scaffolding and boards so early in the morning, the work men also shouting to each other. In this accommodation there was nowhere to sit outside in the lovely weather we had.
Beautiful location the grounds were lovely.

United KingdomNo air conditioning in our room and it was like an oven. No safe in the room. Member of staff walked in unannounced without even knocking. Description of being a short walk into town a bit misleading…longer than described and VERY steep.
Beautiful setting, absolutely gorgeous grounds and great facilities. Staff all very friendly and helpful and our room was very spacious and bright.

IrelandThe bar was a little boring. It had more of a Cafe or Restaurant feel to it. It needs to be made feel more inviting and bar-like! We found it strange that although the Hotel was pretty much full, there were very few people in the bar and we weren't inclided to stay for a second drink. As we say in Ireland ... there was no 'Craic'. Otherwise, I would have given the place a 10 as there is nothing else I could fault. ;-)
We stayed in one of the rooms out back. It was warm, Comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed. The grounds are beautiful and its a great location over looking the bay Unfortunately Sea Mist had rolled in the morning we were there so we couldnt enjoy the view. But a cracking place and we hope to go back there with our family in the near future.

United KingdomThe beds were two single beds pushed together. Badminton courts could do with a refresh. Didn't try the food as it was quite expensive and limited in vegetarian choices. We were told there would be no room service however, housekeepers kept entering our room.
The location was absolutely stunning, the grounds were beautiful. Our room was nice and spacious. The pool was lovely and staff were helpful. The location was also very easy to find. It was a lovely and short walk into the town centre. Stone walled garden was beautiful

Booked speculatively more than 12 months ago, Liz used to attend (literacy) courses at this venue. On the basis of the three 'B's to judge a stay by: Good size Bath Excellent Breakfast (actually had fried bread!) Comfortable Bed So all good. Gardens are fantastic, sat in the walled garden for an hour listening to the bird songs. Staff greet you with a smile and are friendly, sea views to die for.... My only question, how is this hotel only a three star not a five?
