Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf I had to nit pick, the floors being a bit slanted upstairs took some getting used to, but that's one of the quirks of an old cottage like this, and I really can't fault it.
Beautiful little cottage. Amazing garden. Great location for travelling into Bournemouth for the day. Also close to the Moors Valley Country Park. Fully equipped. Very comfy. Would definitely come again.

United KingdomThe house is in a main road and the traffic was a bit too much when we were in bed (I noticed it but my husband didn't). There's plenty of parking space in the other side of the road, but it is scary to cross as there was no zebra crossing around and too many cars passing all the time.
This is an amazing place for bringing the family or a group of friends - plenty of space for activities and games. Loved how the house was marked as 'tipsy' and you do need to be there to understand it! Spacious kitchen and dinning area to socialise and bedooms are very spacious. The game cabin was really cool and the boys didn’t want to leave it. We stayed in a very rainy day but the garden is ideal for summer days.

United KingdomNo microwave (I have a toddler that still has milk so this would’ve been useful). Main bedroom, albeit massive and v comfy is slightly noisy, although I wore one earplug and slept very well (I am a v light sleeper!).
Honestly, this property is named perfectly! haha. The walls, floors and fittings and fixtures are all tipsy! It’s bizarre but sooo cool. Beautiful inside, we absolutely loved it. Definitely memorable and will definitely be returning! Host was quick to respond when we needed. Door is code only so don’t need to worry about keys. Plenty of parking, bedrooms are lovely and comfy.

United KingdomThe road was very busy (abit scary having a toddler) putting a note in the book about where the bathroom light is situated would be good.
Was fantastically decorated throughout - smelt very clean upon entering. The bed & bedding was lovely so comfortable & cozy. The welcome book made us laugh :)

United KingdomNothing. Everything was great. Road is quite noisy but it didn’t bother us too much.
Everything was clean and the cottage was very welcoming upon arrival. The key code on the door was easy to use and we always managed to get a parking space in the bays opposite the house. We loved the character of the house and quickly got used to the wonkiness of the Tipsy cottage! Haha. Great location with an abundance of fantastic walks a short drive away. John quickly responded to any enquiries/questions that we had too which is excellent.

United KingdomTipsy Cottage is quite literally on a slant which can make you feel uneasy at first, however you do get used to this after a small while. My friends and I have also noticed that the sealant on the shower is broken so water was leaking down into the kitchen area.
The location was amazing and the cottage was extremely easy to find. The outside area was extremely nice too and the bbq was very easy to use, as well as the fire pit. There was loads of parking as well that was easy to gain access too, as well as having a petrol station just up the road (:

AustraliaThe house was on a slant which was expected but thought the bed may have been level which was quite funny, just didn't make for a great sleep. It was located right on a busy road, so if you aren't a very sound sleeper the traffic will keep you awake. I also let the owners know that the inside of the kettle wasn't great, so hopefully they will replace that and I couldn't find a hair dryer which would have been handy.
This was a quirky little place, everything on a slant as expected. Had everything you could need for self-catering. The games room was ideal for the kids, they spent a long time playing pool. Fire pit was awesome when it stopped raining. There was also a real fireplace inside but we didn't use it. Close to a Lidl for groceries. The owners had a folder with detailed information in it which was great. Overall a fun little place to stay for a couple of nights. Would I stay there again? Probably not as I have already experienced it, but it's worth a try.
