Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing at all
The cottage had absolutely everything you need while away from home I dont think there is anything missing! The house is accessible to anyone with additional needs to which we will definitely book here again on our next trip with our family members. The pictures dont donit justice it is some size very spacious get garden size to sit out and space for 2 cars. It's not far at all from the ferry port which was so handy as we were only up for 2 days meaning we could fit more sights in rather than worrying about travelling to the ferry.

United KingdomPossibly a small separate freezer or at least a fridge with a freezer compartment would make cooking easier when staying for the week. Dark curtains would have also been nice for us soft Southerners not used to sleeping in the light.
It was well equipped with a good kitchen. There was plenty of room. Spotlessly clean. A great base point to explore the island. A lovely quiet location.

United KingdomThere was nothing to complain about at all. This is a fantastic place to stay, an excellent base from which to explore the Isle of Lewis, situated down a quiet lane, with a large Co-Op supermarket a 5 minute drive away.
Brilliant! An immaculately clean, warm, spacious and comfortable house. Everything that you could possibly need was there, from cooking pans and utensils to laundry capsules. A wonderful home-from-home to relax in after a day of sight-seeing and walking. The TV includes Netflix and the Wi-Fi was excellent. Highly recommended!

CanadaThe location was close enough to down town so that we could shop but not so close that we were in the commercial area. It was peaceful and just what we needed. I highly recommend it for those who are traveling Scotland.

United KingdomA better mop to wipe the wet room floor would have been nice but I'm being picky here. Larger towels
Very quiet and comfortable accommodation. Good facilities and parking for a larger car. Welcome pack appreciated, although we very nearly got delayed due to the ferries/weather and it was sitting on the work surface when the fridge would have been better. A short distance by car from the ferry port and town centre/Tesco

United KingdomThe heating did not come on at the allocated times. The host was helpful though. And we were able to put the heating on when needed.
The house met all our needs. The welcome pack wonderful! Although we had our own provisions, we were able to use some of the produce.

United KingdomThere's nothing I didn't like at all...apart from leaving!
The bungalow, the location, the amenities, were all 100%! The owner had left a beautiful welcome pack containing milk, bread, butter, bacon, and eggs... just ideal to start off your holiday! There's absolutely nothing that I can fault with Tigh Murdag. We stayed last year too and that's the reason we returned this year. If you want a comfortable " home from home", you will get it here!

United KingdomNothing at all everything was fine.
The cottage was immaculately clean. It is also a very warm cottage. Everything you needed was provided and we were also treated to bread, milk, bacon and eggs so much appreciated as Sunday everything closes on Lewis bar the Indian restaurant and possibly the Chinese too. The location was perfect for visiting most tourist sites on Lewis and we thoroughly enjoyed learning about the island's history. Again thanks for the information booklet. We got a flat tyre and the nextdoor neighbour checked we were ok. In fact everyone we came across was so friendly and helpful.

Stayed at this bungalow for our 6 nights while visiting Lewis & Harris. The property is excellent, it has a well equipped kitchen and next to it is the utility room. The bedroom is spacious and bed is very comfy (excellent nights sleep). The bathroom if fitted with walk-in shower which is powerful. The living room has double couch and two single chairs which were also very comfy. Had a superb time while visiting and would thoroughly recommend anyone visiting the Isle to stay at this accommodation. The host left a welcome pack consisting of bacon, eggs, bread and milk which was a nice touch. Definitely 10/10.
