Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere are no improvements needed however don't arrive in anything bigger than a Fiat 500 if you are worried about your parking skills as it is so tight in not only the bays but also the entrance and if you are arrive after 3pm it is a lottery if you will get a space or not. Drinks a bit expensive.
The charm of the interior of the whole hotel. We stayed in a 4 poster room which was lovely. The bar area and restaurant was also lovely.

United KingdomThe old fashioned cocktail wasn’t very good, it really needed help. Perhaps a skilled barman needs to be there.
When I was sat at n the bar, the manager approached me and gave me a free drink.

United KingdomWe took it as a compliment that we were not given help to carry our luggage to our rooms but we are over 80 and our room was up two lots of stairs and then down one.
The room was comfortable and quiet. The staff were unobtrusive but very helpful. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for our visit to the Cathedral and its environs, which were so conveniently nearby.

United KingdomBreakfast time was understandably busy but cooked breakfast took rather a long time to arrive. I think we were unlucky as on other occasions it's been fine.
Staff were delightful, friendly and efficient. Our room was well placed, comfortably furnished and wonderfully peaceful. Breakfast offered a good range of options both cooked and continental. The terrace facing the Cathedral is lovely for afternoon tea or drinks.

United KingdomThe restaurant was experiencing difficulties with food supply which affected their offer and meant that several items on the menu were not available. This could not be helped but some warning of this before we chose to eat in would have been helpful and would have managed our expectations. As we didn’t need clean towels or sheets we hung the ‘green’ notice on our door. This meant that no - one came in to make the bed or replenish the tea/coffee or toilet roll. A re-wording of the room info would have clarified this. Moreover, the description of the Superior Double room on line states that some facilities are available eg robe and slippers, when in fact they are not. Again, the information on line needs updating to manage customers’ expectations.
The location was excellent, very central and yet we were able to park the car there. The breakfast was good. The staff were very helpful and happy to help us with our specific requests. Dinner in the restaurant was very good although the choice was limited. We liked our room which had character and many good facilities.

United KingdomThe parking situation is not great, car park was always full so had to park in long stay car park about 10 minutes away, with the hotel situated where it is in a a very old town this is somewhat to be expected however and the hotel manager was very helpful finding me a parking spot on the first night.
Staff were really friendly and always happy to help which was great, even with a difficult late check in with the parking situation, so thanks very much for that. Really beautiful old hotel in a great location.

United KingdomAccess to the carpark, as it seems very narrow. Understandable due to the age of the building, however just take your time. Vehicles such as a Land Rover Defender had successfully made it through.
If travelling by car, be prepared for a narrow entrance before entering the carpark at the rear of the property. We stayed in a dog friendly deluxe double, for which there is a small additional charge for the dog per night. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfy. It even had air conditioning, but we couldn't get it to work. I'm sure if we had asked for help, it would have been sorted immediately. We had the most delicious dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday, with a couple of glasses of complimentary Taittinger Rose. There was a birthday offer, which gave the person celebrating, a free 2 course meal, providing you have photo ID. This offer included ANY dish, including the steak! As we were travelling with our dog, breakfast was set up in the window in the bar. There's a small cold buffet in the dining room and a good choice of cooked breakfast. Service was a little slow, however there were lots of guests. We even enjoyed our drinks in the garden overlooking the Cathedral in the glorious sunshine. The landlord and his staff are fantastic, and nothing is too much trouble. He made us feel valued and very welcome. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
