Lack of fruit at breakfast - it would have been nice to have some dried fruit / seeds / and fresh fruit for breakfast.

Young lady running the bar very honest and helpful. I left my telephone on a table in the bar lounge several people there. On my return 3 hrs later I went to the bar and asked. The young lady returned it with a big smile

My only slight disappointment was the full English breakfast , when it arrived it was warm and not hot, the bacon was under-cooked and inedible and the black pudding too chewy. Not a game changer but worth a comment

I only utilised the swimming pool and steam room which were the only intended areas, next time i might try one of the numerous spa treatments. I was hoping that there was a sunbed but unfortunately not, but not the end of the world . I was also upgraded to a larger room which was fabulous and much appreciated

Dinner service in the evening was slow, we had meals given to us that contained ingredients some of the party were allergic to and not mentioned on the menu.

Not as spacious as I’d expected for £440 outside of London. For that price, I’d expect five-star service too, but butter and sufficient milk was left off our breakfast tray, while specific booking emails received auto-replies (bar those from the very helpful Abigail). No major niggles, though: overall, it was a memorable stay.

.Beautifully decorated, immaculate Feature Room with a great bath and shower. A distinctive high-end design - loved the huge bath! The communal areas were clean and stylish too. All the staff were pleasant and as helpful as one could wish.

far walk into the town, well 20 minutes. So not too far, but when tired not great. Found the bath quite high to climb in and out of, and no handles to hold on to to balance. Room was very hot and couldn't find out how to turn on the fan to keep cool. There werent any instuctions in the booklet on how to get the fan to work, but on our last night found a controller that turned out was for the fan and heating control by the bed. It wasn't very obviouse as to what the controller was for, so would be good if it was mentioned in the hotel booklet.

Check in was quick and easy. Room was lovely and clean and tidy. Loved the variety of teas for the kettle in the room and the bottles of water with the teas as well. And bed was very comfortable. Liked that there were extra pillows in the closet. Water was nice and hot when I wanted to use the shower. Room service was nice and easy to arrange and breakfast was easy to find with a good variety of different foods and drinks on offer.

Beds are not always the most comfortable and wi-fi was at best patchy. Usually worse in the evenings.

The gym and pool were quite small. The sauna and steam room very hot. The treadmills in the gym were quite old. Measurements were in Imperial when every gym fanatic knows that they should be in Metric! The treadmills were loud underfoot and unstable, so I limited myself to jogging and not sprinting HIIT. But these are minor quibbles; overall the hotel was great.

Bedroom was huge with ironing and hot and cold drink making facilities. Huge ensuite bathroom with two sinks, bath and shower (plus loo). Super king sized bed. Wonderful view of the hotel gardens. Restaurant had great breakfast and dinner menu, service and food were great. Gym, spa and sauna were fine for a hotel: adequate facilities if very much on the small side.

The swimming pool is smaller than I thought and was quite busy over the bank holiday weekend. The hotel is situated next to a busy road and I could hear the traffic from my room.

I like the traditional decor of the place. I got a room upgrade and it was spacious. Staff was down to earth but also courteous. Love the garden at the back too. Food was great.

Bed felt small (double) for the room and the space could have taken a larger bed Despite booking our slot for breakfast we waited 40 mins to be served and then food (eggs florentine) was oversalted and bizarre tasting (did not eat) - staff were great thought and were doing all they could to serve quickly

Disappointing pool. No jacuzzi. Breakfast was fairly good but not a good enough range of fresh fruit and dried fruit and nuts.

The room. We were given an upgrade. Excellent toiletries. Good gym. Lovely grounds. Very clean room.

Very friendly staff , clean comfortable rooms , ok breakfast tho scrambled egg was to salty for me ,but overall very good and a wide choice . staff very kindly filled my flask for long journey ahead .I received a complimentary pass to their summer festival in the hotel gardens .Music was great plenty street food and drink and the weather was perfick

Can't avoid some stairs in old buildings.

Stately old mansion - well maintained in a lovely garden setting close to town. Large room with lovely furnishings and comfortable bed. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Great spa and pool facilities which we unfortunately didn't have time to use. Large public sitting areas pleasantly furnished.Pleasant to wander around lovely gardens. Great free parking.

Extra charges for anything other than a pot of coffee at breakfast. At £17 I don't think at least an initial cappuccino is much to ask. Also only served till 9.15 in the week which is early if you're not corporate. Limited room service menu.

Friendly welcome, beautiful building, very comfy bed and the most epic bath! Plenty of free parking.

We were upgraded to a spacious room which was very comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The grounds are well kept and lovely to walk around. Staff were very pleasant and attentive.
