Both mornings we were disturbed quite early by the room service, it was annoying and a little awkward as one of them were a little rude and made us uncomfortable. We had breakfast in the breakfast room one morning, the staff, food and drinks were great but the room was oppressive and the tables are far to close together, again, it makes for an uncomfortable situation.

It’s a gorgeous building and beautifully renovated in to the fine hotel it is today. It’s in a great location and has a lovely Grand Cafe restaurant.

Location was the best. Near Royal Mile which has many good restaurants and stores. Near train station and bus station for connections. Room was grand. Staff was exceptional.

The wait in the cafe for food or service was sometimes slow and waiting on a lift to your room can take ages sometimes but it’s an old building so that can be a given!

We had a gorgeous stay in the Scotsman! The rooms are very clean and super comfortable. We even upgraded to city view and had an amazing surprise of a tower in our room!! We even did a movie in the theatre on the bottom floor and that was lovely.

Our original room was dreary & dark with an obvious plumbing issue directly above our heads. I called the front desk & they moved us immediately to the most gorgeous room with a view, good lighting and Netflix. The odd thing was, they said in the bad room the hotel didn’t have Netflix. I guess that’s what an upgrade gets you.

The staff…incredibly accommodating. The location was ideal for just a few days in Edinburgh.

In my opinion the hotel is overpriced but still that might be the case most of the hotels in the city centre. What I find unsatisfactory was the breakfast, it lacked choices for healthy food, the coffee machine was broken for 2 days of our stay. The hotel can improve on the breakfast front. Overall the staff there were very friendly.

The hotel location is excellent, I selected the hotel based on this as I had to travel by train one day. The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff were very kind and helpful. It is an interesting building to visit.

More detail given about the cinema and restaurant. Problem with parking - entrance to Waverley station closed, hotel staff unaware and had to pay for a separate car park at St James with no reimbursement for parking.

The food on the warm section of the buffet was not as warm as I'd like.

The location was perfect. The staff were all warm and friendly. There was a good selection of options to choose for breakfast from the menu and also the buffet.

Entrance to the hotel is a bit confusing and no staff was available to help to get luggage inside. No entrance pullout or place to park so we double parked near the the market street entrance. Door is tiny, heavy and does not stay open. No porter or staff to help move bags or even hold door open so we had to basically move one bag at a time from the street to the ground floor lobby struggling with the door with each of our bags. This was last stop of 2 week trip and returned rental car after check in so we had all out bags. Pack light and this shouldn't be an issue!

Room was phenomenal. I think they must have upgraded us as we had a corner room overlooking the train station and beautiful park and city. Great space, full sized shower, luxury bathroom.

The hotel itself had construction going on all around it which I know is a temporary inconvenience.

We loved our room awhich I understand was recently updated. Very comfortable beds and complimentary tea service. The location was great for exploring Edinburgh.

No wifi in our room. Get it all thru hotel, walk in our room no connection.

Easy to get to hotel from train station using their Market st exit, cross street, go to your left keep going kinda around the side of building till u see big flower boxes on both sides of entrance, go thru doors to lift. 4 th floor reception. Perfect
