The decor is tired. The carpet needs a deep clean ( dubious looking stains on bedroom carpet). The shower head sprayed in multiple directions as the jets are blocked. Sealant round bathroom floor was adrift. Floor in restaurant was dirty. Knives and forks were not clean. Run out of local street maps. Air conditioning units in breakfast room are filthy. Staff were laying tables for lunch before breakfast service had even finished this reducing the amount of available tables.

This was an average hotel. Just needed a bed and breakfast for one night. Didn't expect much and so wasn't disappointed.

The recdeption was not manned, and even after check in time the hotel theoretically tried to use a computerised self-check in.. it was not working , and the man who dealt with booking peole in was friendly and helpful. I stayed 2 nights including a Saturday in August, and discovered that there was a very loud event in the hotel until late. I would probably have booked elsewhere had I been warned.

I booked a double room for myself, but swapped on the day with a friend who had booked a single room which involved too many stairs for her. Ther is no lift, so maybe guests should be advised when booking some of the rooms. The breakkfast was better than I have had is places charging a similar price. The staff members I met were helpful and courteous, and the garden was large and pleasant.

Would have preferred some cheese or cold meat at breakfast as part of continental breakfast. Our much cheaper Days Inn the previous night had provided this If you went a bit later the danish pastries had gone and weren't replaced, certainly on one day. Breakfast ended rather early for leisure guests at 9.30

Lovely grounds with plenty of parking. Attractive buildings. Our room was like a mini cottage outside the main hotel. Handy for Bury and also for functions at Hengrave just outside the town. Were told by daughter it was one of the more reasonably priced options in Bury.

If you are looking to check in early you can forget it they will under no circumstances allow you to check in before 3pm unless of course you want to pay £20 quid for the pleasure. Hot water in the bath room is scolding so they will need to sort that out as someone will get burned. Receptionist not helpful when checking in but not too much of an issue. TVs in the room need to upgraded still using analogue aerial so poor quality.

Room was located in the courtyard. It was clean and quiet area away from the main hotel reception. The full breakfast was quality have to say which I was not expecting. Great garden to use if the weather allows.

Our bathroom needed a revamp as tiles were loose, paint chipping etc. Room wasn't fully clean either, with dust accumulated in the corners, windowsills dirty, shower was grubby. A few more signs for directions to rooms needed as it's a bit if a complicated layout.

Staff were excellent at every point. Nice grounds. Good breakfast selection.

Good wedding venue, but wouldn't stay otherwise

Supposedly wedding attendees should get a small discount for their rooms; I wasn't able to get this when originally booking (as I booked via Booking) and when I tried to discuss this at the site, they weren't able to meet my request. This wouldn't have been a big deal, but the staff didn't have the permission to give me a breakfast voucher for this either. At the same time, I couldn't attend breakfast to just chat with folks (without eating) unless I paid £12.49 or £7.49 or whatever it was, which is a little bit of a steep price just to chat for a few minutes. I think the staff were helpful, but they didn't seem to be able to meet any custom requests whatsoever. I suppose they have a company standard to follow, and if they break it, they're liable with their jobs.

I was here for a friend's wedding; this made for a very good setting for the wedding, but I am not sure a casual visitor to Bury is best served by this place. The garden is very nice along with the option to sit outside at least during some times – though unfortunately not for breakfast from what I saw.

Uncomfortable bed (unforgivable). Uneven floors, terrible carpets, intermittent service (friendly when you could find it).

Attractively - and conveniently - situated. Good parking. Nice old building. Large room. Everything worked. Fair value.

Toilet didn't flush - told staff but they didn't seem to care (other than that, they were exceptional!) Bathroom window opened up to parked cars, with no blind or anything for privacy.

Attended for a family members wedding and the staff were amazing! Nothing was to much trouble for them. Food was delightful! The grounds were beautiful to sit in. Room was spacious and very clean, Bed was so comfortable!! Plenty of storage space. Very happy there was a fan in the room as it was far to hot in there!

Arrived at the hotel early and wanted to let someone know we were leaving the cars in the car park. No staff to be found anywhere. When it finally came to checking in the Reception staff were extremely rude! Check in was meant to be 3pm and we was told one of our rooms wasn’t ready but there was no apology for the delay just a sarky comment and rude attitude. I wouldn’t have minded but we had an event to attend so expected our rooms to be ready when they were suppose to considering I had already messaged to ask about a. Early check in. I would have also been understanding had it been dealt with in a professional way. Serious lack of customer service. Beds weren’t very comfortable but did the job for the purpose of an overnight stay after an event.

Location and surroundings was excellent. Room was pleasant. The gardens were lovely and enjoyed sitting out in the morning to have breakfast.
