Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWell, if you prefer being away from the main road you'll be disappointed on that score. Traffic is supposedly slowed to 40 through the village but it's a very busy road. I make sure to take earplugs when I travel, and was glad of these as some road noise comes through the closed windows at night, but my friend did not use earplugs and did not find the noise an issue.
Location very convenient for walking the Cotswold Way as it's right on it. Having a convenience store at the petrol station next door is very convenient. My friend and I both really liked the collection of artefacts/ornaments dotted around the cottage - quite eccentric in an appealing way. We also appreciated the oldness of the building. The beds were comfortable - mine dipped in the middle but I still found it comfortable and slept well. The lounge is small but has several comfortable chairs and would easily be fine for 3 people, probably 4. Two bathrooms, both with showers, is convenient.

United KingdomThe downstairs toilet had a problem with the flush, it was frequently flushing by itself which was annoying, it also had a leak. The stove was too difficult to operate and the host didn’t not leave any instructions. I texted the host and he took at least 30 minutes to reply. His reply wasn’t so helpful so we ended up not using it. It was very disappointing. The main garage gate does not close so there was no privacy and security.
Most necessities were available the property location was also good, it was about 20 minutes away drive to the city centre.

United KingdomDusty .. although it gives it character, my mum is asthmatic so she had an asthma attack on our first night due to dust.
I like this quaint cottage. Old memorabilias added character to the cottage. It is cosy and in a very good location. Smooth check in and check out ... has nice space outside the cottage, spacious car park.

GermanyThe road in front of the house is busy but we knew this before and didn’t mind.
A lovely cottage, very clean, with comfortable beds and everything one might need. Parking in the yard in front of the entrance. Good walking options for our dogs. Contact with the owner friendly and easy. All very good and to recommend!

United KingdomVery uncomfortable mattress and small bed made our sleep interrupted. Also no double bed or enough space to join two single beds. Hence this is not ideal for couples. This accommodation is not suitable for people with mobility issues as the floor is uneven and very steep/narrow stairs.
Very friendly host who met us on arrival and it was really a hassle free check-in. The building was a pub and so it would be a very enjoyable experience for anyone likes the traditional English buildings. Wifi is available although on it is shown as 'not available' on booking.com. Nicely located to travel to Bath, pubs and farms. A shell petrol station is close-by which is very convenient to buy basic food and drinks. Ample on-site parking spaces too.

New ZealandIt’s by the main road and cars and trucks sped pass throughout the night. It’s therefore quite noisy. Also as we arrived late in the evening I didn’t see the blind for the skylight until the next morning (which can be closed if you stand on the bed)and the lights from the vehicles disturbed the sleep. There is one small room downstairs (no windows) and two upstairs (all rooms with single beds); the stairs are quite narrow and steep so it does not suit people with mobility issues and parents need to be careful with young children. The upstairs shower gel dispenser was broken. Judging by the fact that the shampoo box has run out and the shower gel is half full, it probably has been broken for quite some time and is not fixed. Downstairs bathroom shower gel and shampoo boxes were also empty. After shower I found some half used small travel kit shower gels (hotel ones. not sure if left behind by earlier guests). The feeling is that the owner can’t be bothered to check, or to give instructions to guests ~ there’s no instruction whatsoever apart from how to get the key.
Easy access. It’s by the road so you lose no time travelling north the next day. The cottage has some china displays and they brighten up the house.

United KingdomBeing right beside the A46, it was quite noisy at night with passing HGVs etc (earplugs solved that problem). It was extremely difficult to turn right out of the property in the car, due to the busyness and speed of vehicles on the road, especially at peak times - needed to take great care!
This was in a great location for getting to the P&R for Bath - only a 7 minute drive to the nearest P&R ( Lansdown Park). House right beside the Cotswold Way (long distance walk) with beautiful rural scenery after only a few minutes walking. Very quaint house, homely and comfortable - it used to be a pub so has some interesting features. Useful to have Shell garage with Londis shop and Costa Coffee next door. Despite my Booking.com receipt misleadingly saying there was no parking or wifi, there are both.

United KingdomThere were no baking trays that we could find. The road that the cottage is on is very busy. We could not hear the road from inside but had to be very careful not to let our dog out when we opened the front door. There were gates from the road but they did not close.
Immediate access to the Cotswold Way was a real bonus.

United KingdomDisgusting, dirty kitchen! Absolutely horrified that this property is available to book! Dirty cutlery, plates, cleaning cloths, all equipment dirty, greasy! We nearly left! Paid £180!!, plug holes still holding old food from previous occupants, washing up bowl had grit in bottom looked as though it was used to wash the floor! Freezer blocked with ice and still had particles of broccoli and the fridge had been bleached so heavy that we couldn’t use it! Microwave broken.Heating restricted to 7pm-10pm on a cold night had to sit in jumpers until then and no heating in the morning. Left milk and butter in porch to keep cold to avoid being poisoned by bleach!
Closeness to bath and space for 4 people

United KingdomThere was only one entrance into the property, in the event of a fire there would be no alternative exit point. There were wood lice present in multiple rooms. The upstairs layout would be challenging for children and elderly as the stairs were very steep. To exit the bathroom and enter the largest bed room you had to step down then up three steps or jump the gap! The door way to the main room stood about 5’8” from floor level. The light in that room also hung down to a similar level. I’m not a particularly tall guy at 6’1” but there were plenty of opportunities to inadvertently bang your head. The door into the kitchen was low too. There is parking in a courtyard in front of the property accessible from the A46 through gates. The gates are fixed in an open position. If you take pets there is no way to close off the road and no back yard that is accessible. Walking a dog at night is a challenge as most of the A46 in the area has no pavement and there are no streetlights. The A46 on which the property is located is very busy so expect constant traffic noise. .
The property had parking, it was next to a petrol station with a convenience shop. There was a toilet and shower upstairs and down stairs. The Cotswold way path which is nearby is a nice walk with loverly views. The nearby Crown inn and Catherine Wheel in Marshfield are worth a visit for good food and hospitality.
