The noise from main road outside as we live somewhere very quiet. Would have like mushrooms & black pudding on breakfast. There was no porridge as on menu.

The lasagne at dinner was excellent. Staff very nice. The location for docks was perfect.

There seemed to be no visible croissants or pastries on offer at breakfast, just toast. The fresh fruit salad seemed to consist mainly of chopped apples with the occasional grape or even rarer piece of melon.

My room on the first floor was basic but comfortable and warm. There was a kettle with tea and coffee. The small wall-mounted television was okay. The bathroom was functional and clean and had complimentary shower gel/hand wash. The towels were soft. The staff on reception were helpful and friendly and acknowledged my previous stay. The food served in the bar and restaurant in the evening was of good qualify and value. The staff were very helpful and the room service menu was available until 10.30pm. There was waitress service for your cooked breakfast, which was very tasty. There was also self-service tea, coffee, plain yogurt, fresh fruit salad and a selection of cereals and juices.

On entering the room, I walked into a already used, unattended mess, room not prepeared from the previous guests. I returned to the chap at the front desk & explained my plight. He was apolgetic, & made arrangements to have it cleaned for me

The chap at the front desk was helpful, however, I was given my room pass, a few minutes before 3pm

It was ideal for visiting the Royal Engineers Museum. It was wheelchair friendly. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good & breakfast was great. The restaurant was a little disappointing as the menu was the same as in the Bar.

Lovely hotel inside but drinks bar prices seem to have killed off most bar custom. External decor and general tidying up where the old nightclub used to be let's the look of the place down visibly.

Not my first time staying at the King charles Hotel. This stay was the best so far. I had a brilliant room with a huge bed to myself, how could I ever complain. Breakfast was very enjoyable as always and the staff always polite friendly and on hand if needed. I will be booking again very soon.

Staff were lovely; dog very welcome with NO extra charge. One place in Folkestone about an hour away wanted £25! It’s better to stay here and drive an hour to the Tunnel or Le Shuttle. Rooms + shower good. Bar prices reasonable. Full English breakfast very good. Close to town where there is a selection of take away food. Would stay here again with no hesitation.

Building is very dated and in need of a lot of redecoration-modernising to stay in competitive in the current climate.

Decor a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Neighbours were a bit noisy on the first night. Dogs were not allowed in the restaurant so put her in the car, and parked my car so I could see her from my table, as she was making too much noise being left in the room (as were my neighbour's dogs). I tried to leave her in the room to quickly go and get my breakfast but could hear her down the corridor so went back to get her. That's fine at this time of year but, being a solo traveller, wouldn't have been possible in the Summer as wouldn't be able to leave her in the car then. I have a cafe and we allow dogs. You advertise as dog friendly so being able to take her to the restaurant would have made the stay easier for me being on my own.

Friendly welcome. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed. Great that I could bring my dog. Nice downstairs room where I could open the windows. I like a cool room so was able to turn the radiators off. Good layout. Tasty breakfast - I had fruit salad following by an English breakfast.

I don’t like fixed shower heads that barely move

I liked that as I couldn’t attend breakfast I was able to order a Sausage Baguette & Bacon Baguette to compensate me for this
