The scaffolding and noise. No croissants at breakfast. Parking

Great location and you could see the building works they were doing sadly scaffolding out the rear which is where our room was. Pigeons woke us up as were all over the scaffolding at 4 am. Sadly it’s nature but if scaffolding wasn’t there then birds wouldn’t be.

good value and okay if you want to stay in the town but quite noisy and outdated.

It’s an old building and quite run down with poor condition carpets with tape to cover the holes. It could use a revamp or even a lick of paint on the walls. Our rooms overlooked the road so it was noisy but you can’t control that so would stay in a back room next time.

looks lovely from the outside and rooms were clean and had what you need for a stay away.

Considering the age of the hotel, there are definitely mod-cons that are missing, but it is a 400 year old hotel. Don’t expect an elevator and air conditioning.

The history. What a treasure this place is. GM Zoey and her staff are very friendly and helpful. She was happy to give us a tour when I asked about where to find the priest hole. The location is excellent. If you appreciate the

Parking is ltd only 11 spaces & town centre is very run down with lots of shops closed down. Council need to address this could be a stunning village & help this great hotel with buissness.

Staff are very friendly & helpful & a very special building with lots of history. Reasonable priced for town centre. Food in the hotel was superb & great range of drinks in the bar.

The bed mattress was not very supportive and creaked a lot. The door to the bathroom was also very noisy on the hinges. The hot water took an age to get up the pipes to the shower and the sink.

It’s rather difficult to find the parking area, as you have to guess when you’ve arrived. Only one sign seen from the main road, the rest is by intuition. The building itself is incredible, 18th century, with so much history. It’s like a maze inside. The staff (and the breakfast) were perfect. Really helpful and friendly.

They are pet friendly.. then they charge you £35 for a small dog.. which is disgraceful.. room was only £65 then they add £35 for the dog.. then they get absolutely nothing for it.. no bed, no bowl etc.. which is horrendous if your charging that amount. They only give you 2 teabags as well.

The location the hotel was also an issue. Being on the main road made our room, (214) which is on the front of the hotel, very noisy throughout the night. The entire hotel felt very tired and is in need of refurbishment.

The staff were lovely. Zoe (on reception) and Nikki (serving breakfast) were outstanding. Both are a credit to the hotel. The location of the hotel was ideal for the town centre.

I had a few issues with bathroom cleanliness in the double room I stayed in with a friend; there were hairs on the toilet cistern, sink and inside of bathroom door. I also had an issue with noise coming from the room above causing major sleep disruption on Friday night. So much so that I booked *another* room for Saturday into Sunday (if you check your records, you’ll see my name twice over the course of Friday to Sunday morning). The new single was much better with far less noise.

I liked how close the hotel was to food amenities.
