Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was no lift or chairlift for my disabled mum so we had to carry her up the stairs - hotel not recommended if you have mobility problems.
The hotel was lovely and old. I hate modern hotels. Prefer old style class.

United KingdomLimited parking so I had to park on the road overnight and move it in the morning Staff were manning the reception and breakfast so there was a bit of a wait to get noticed and it was not clear where you needed to go
Staff were very friendly and accommodating as I had my dog with me but they had no rooms left for pets. They managed to sort something out for me and followed my request to be in a part of the hotel that was quiet so the dog settled. Location was perfect in the centre of town and 5 mins from where I needed to be for work. Quiet area to work throughout the day in the lounge area of the bar I would describe this place as pleasant basic It was clean and comfortable but some TLC needed - Shower coming off of wall slightly, scuffing on walls

United KingdomThe breakfast was a full English but was quite average unfortunately.
The room was clean and spacious with friendly staff throughout - easy check in. The building itself has a lot of history which was interesting. Great location in the centre of Wellingborough with a pub attached downstairs with plenty of seating and a pool table.

United KingdomThe building is great but we weren’t told before we arrived that there was no food being served. Some parts of the hotel could do with updating but I guess it is all part of the old feel that the property offers.
Lovely old building with lots of character. Being able to take the dog was a bonus and there is a large park behind the hotel which was ideal for a short walk.

United KingdomSadly our stay was a little soured by the constant having to get staff to let us in the front door, which is understandable but frustrating. The one thing that soured our stay the most was a member of staff who was doing the night shift 2 nights in a row had bolted the door from half 9 at night and we were told we can only use the back car park for smoking, which would be fine but we couldn't go out and get food or go for a drink if we wanted to.. I felt like a child with a curfew. This time of year it would have been nice to have gone out and not worried about not being let in. I'm sure he would have let us in, but moaned about it. The room we were given needed some tlc, stained walls, wallpaper slightly coming off in places, and a small hole in the wall and the WiFi for the tv hadn't been sorted so my partner had to do that himself. We were given room 111, which is in the middle floor hidden right at the end of the hall. The shower was nice once it heated up which seemed to take quite awhile to do so. The heating was strange as it wouldn't come on until past midnight which overheated the room and my partner really struggled to sleep because of that. Lastly the beds sadly had a far too firm mattress which was quite uncomfortable to fall asleep in.
The day staff were lovely and more then happy to give us more sugar/tea and milk as we got through it quite quickly being two of us and we love our tea. The building itself has a lot of character, and it felt like we almost had it to ourselves which made it quiet.

United KingdomIt took me a while to work out how to operate the shower and adjust water temperature to my preference. When closing the water tap in the shower; it does not easily turn off the water. May be to replace with simple taps so as not to end up wasting water, as well as time spent just trying to make sure that the water is turned off.
Location; close proximity to the town centre and the places I wanted to get to. Staff were kind. Alternative room was provided when requested.
