The pedal bin in the bathroom had not been emptied since the previous occupier but having stayed here several time this was an exceptional fault The car park can be difficult to find.

It has its own car park although it is no longer free it is safer than in the street. I like the traditional style of the building. On this visit I had a bigger room and the bathroom door did not stick. I think it had recently been refurbished and was excellent.

It was a little run down in places and some rooms a bit small, but fine for the area. A bit pricey for what it was.

Great staff. Comfortable and excellently located. I managed to get moved to a much nicer room. Some are much better than others.

Breakfast wasn't very good. Had Eggs Royale on day 1, which was almost inedible, and the full Cumbrian on day two, which was almost acceptable. There were power ballads playing during breakfast too, which was a bit much! It let the experience down.

Beautiful, historic hotel in the heart of a beautiful town. 5-7min walk from train station. Reception staff very helpful. Nice room with lovely bathroom - double size shower with rainfall setting was excellent! Very quiet at night and we didn't hear a peep out of the other guests. The best I've ever slept in a hotel!

The shower, only because it was roasting and obviously faulty. We couldn’t get it to cool down but part from that everything else was great.

The room, parking, food, friendlessness of staff and location were great. Also we travelled with dogs and they could have not been helpful enough. The parking is a £3 charge per night but at least you have space and safe parking.

Our visit was to see ill family so we checked in late and was away fairly early the next morning. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice.

Being short, the bed was a little high for me. The chairs in the dining room were too heavy for me to pull in.

Centrally located and a fifteen minute walk from the train Station down hill. A five minute walk from the back of the hotel to the bus station. The staff are very friendly and helpful and are willing to go above and beyond.

The receptionist on arrival lacked interest and courtesy and as the first to greet customers, needs to be re-trained in customer services, a smile costs nothing!

The bedroom was clean and well presented. The bed was very comfortable. Nice selection at breakfast.

No lift and our room was on the 3rd floor, although it is appreciated that the building is listed. It was a struggle to carry bags and walk the dog up 3 floors.
