The room was extremely hot, no matter what combination of air con/fan/open window we tried. The room was also very dark - lights near mirrors especially would be appreciated.

Upon arrival. The welcome was cold. We were ask ‘are you okay?’ Not Hi hello welcome? No smiles exchanged. Limited information provided. Keys handed and then took a phone call so we didn’t get to ask any questions. Such as how do we get to the room ? Late check out Etc etc. Complementary drinks were offered though which was nice. The room was very warm and there didn’t appear to be aircon. The bathroom door was really noisy. The mechanism might need some attention. The view from the room was scaffolding and nothing else . Although not a massive deal… we are in the city centre. Would have been nice to had a warning or offered an alternative room. As we had plans to go out and it was just a short stay could tolerate it. The last thing there was no safe in the room.

The hot water had to run for about 3 minutes before it went warm/hot.

Lovely staff, fast check in, great room. We loved that there was a steamer instead of an (usually cheap!) iron, and that the toiletries in the room were of a luxury standard. Decor is modern and stylish. The whole building was extremely clean. Dinner in the restaurant was great too - the staff at The Alan couldn’t have been more accommodating.

It was a comfortable bed but the pillows weren’t great unfortunately. Quite lumpy and thin which I was surprised at considering it’s a more upmarket hotel.

No table in front of the mirror to put things on when using plug sockets. Also no sockets at bedsides.

REALLY loud at night from the streets, windows aren’t really soundproof at all even when closed so bring earplugs.

Stunning and MASSIVE room, bathroom was also sooo pretty & bed was comfy and big.

The breakfast, and the standard double room.

The rooms are good, but you should upgrade to the next roomcategory from standard double. Standard double was not good, but the next roomcategory was much, much better! Really beautiful rooms when not in the standardroom. Harmony at the front desk is a saint. Good service from everyone who works at The Alan. Dont waist your money at the breakfast, it is really not worth it. Nor very good, and for 17 pounds you can eat much more and much better at the nearest Wetherspoons.

The thermostat / air con was difficult to adjust for appropriate temp as no indication which direction as was not aligned with dial. There temp of room was either to hot or cold and needed to keep adjusting would be better if was digital. Wires for kettle and fridge stretched too tight across corner of room an extension cord would be safer

Roof terrace was great. Accommodation was very comfortable and hotel location easy to access and great for city centre (walking or tube) and also bars and restaurants alongside the river

My room was average for the price, the carpet was dirty, the aircon didnt work (they brought me a fan instead), and the bathroom was a bit dated. I felt like I got one of the lower standard rooms compared to some of the amazing pictures of the very modern rooms.

Breakfast, waited 35 minuets for what in the end was a luke warm to cold full english. The quality of which was no better than what I would get at a premier inn. Pastries were also stale, and what was be a £17 breakfast each. Not really up to the standards id expect If it was communicated at the start that their was a wait. We could of made a more informed choice of what to do with our morning.

Only 2 lifts but 1 was broken so very long wait for the other. We ended up taking stairs as we were 3rd floor.
