Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaNothing we didn't like.
We stayed in the Wood cabin, and it was comfortable, clean, spacious, beautifully decorated, quiet and equipped with everything you could possibly need to be self-sufficient. Sandra and David were wonderful hosts and were on hand to provide and assistance, a fabulous breakfast each morning and to start the day with a laugh (thank you David). No problems with parking, which is very secure and it's a good location to catch the steam train from Pickering to Whitby.

Wood Cottage is a true home from home and situated in a beautiful village with excellent access to the North Yorkshire Moors from the south and the coast at Scarborough to the east. Sandra and David were perfect and very friendly hosts and made us feel most welcome throughout. Our bedroom was spacious with a large double bed, TV, tea/coffee making facilities, a small fridge and a fully equipped en suite and its huge windows and balcony facilitated great views southwards over the stunning countryside. Our breakfasts, either continental or cooked, were superb as was the home-baked cake in the fridge which awaited our arrival. We have never had better value for money anywhere else and will certainly be returning for longer very soon. Wood Cottage must be in the running to be Yorkshire's if not the UK's best B and B.

United KingdomWe had a two night break at Wood Cottage following a reshuffle of an already planned stay, and we are so glad we chose this wonderful accommodation, Sandra and David are amazing hosts and nothing seemed too much trouble. The room was wonderful with spectacular views, a very comfortable bed, quality bedding and a choice of firm and soft pillows and a whirlpool bath that was just the ticket after a long day walking. Breakfast is pre-ordered the night before to ensure there is no disappointment, both mornings we opted for the "Full English" which was delicious however every taste, diet and appetite is accommodated for on the comprehensive menu. For our second day we ordered a packed lunch, this was great value for money, incredibly tasty (homemade carrot cake and flapjack) it was all in the ethos Wood Cottage packaged in recyclable containers.

- The floor/ceiling windows meant that it was the best view we have ever had on a holiday. - The magic tricks at breakfast meant it was an unforgettable experience! - Lots of small, little touches that were really lovely (for example, bottles of wine/homemade carrot cake on arrival/the most friendliest cat!). - Despite it being a rural location, the internet was fantastic! - Lovely breakfast options.

United KingdomI recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend break here, and it was truly a delightful experience. From the picturesque countryside views to the warm hospitality of the locals, Yorkshire offers a perfect blend of relaxation and exploration. The cobbled streets and historic buildings transported me back in time, providing a glimpse into the region's rich literary history. Indulging in Yorkshire's culinary scene was a treat for the taste buds. From traditional pub fare to gourmet dining experiences, the local cuisine showcased the region's culinary prowess and dedication to using fresh, local ingredients. The Wood Cottage was cozy and inviting, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration. The hospitality of the hosts added an extra layer of warmth to the experience. Overall, my weekend break in Yorkshire was a perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion. I highly recommend this charming region to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the heart of the English countryside.
