Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe restaurants tables require cleaning, stripping back and repainting. They were sticky and felt unclean.
Downstairs bar was lovely and comfortable. The room was basic, clean, acceptable only issue was the bed wasn’t particularly comfortable and the pillows weren’t very good.

United KingdomThe main issue was that although breakfast was supposedly included we were asked to pay extra for tea and coffee or anything else (cereal/toast) apart from main course. Which seemed strange, unheard of by any of us and caused conflict and argument
Hotel comfortable, rooms good size and good location

United KingdomMaybe have a fan in the room as it was quite warm so had to open all the windows so the noise from the pub garden kept us up until 11pm.
The property was very clean and bed was very comfortable. It’s in a great location, only 20 mins from Alton towers.

United KingdomThe only negative thing I would say, is that the weather for June was unseasonably chilly and the radiators didn’t appear to work. I didn’t check in till late and went straight to bed, so it wasn’t a problem and it wouldn’t stop me from staying again.
Spacious, comfy bedroom, with spacious en-suite bathroom. All very clean, staff friendly and helpful on arrival, would definitely stay again.

United KingdomWe had a room with no window, just a door which led down to the car park so we didn't feel safe leaving it open, as it was a hot night this made the room slightly too warm
The pub and rooms are lovely and just a short walk into town or the racecourse, breakfast was lovely and caters for vegetarians, staff were all warm and welcoming, already rebooked

United KingdomIt is an old building which adds charm but being on the road side of the building can be noisy as the windows are old and characteristic.

The bedroom was really good size with a modern bath & shower en suite, with tea/ coffee complimentary tray including nice biscuits, very comfortable queen double bed & the room we were given was lovely & quiet, it’s location is perfect right in the centre of town, also had a lovely bar & restaurant, with well kept outside seating area. The hotel was spotless & had a modern feel but in keeping with some traditional features very pleasant indeed all round,

New ZealandUnfortunately there were a couple of things that we did not like. The shower took a long time to heat up each time we needed to used it. It was not the easiest to use and took a while to figure out. The radiator in the room was red hot all night. We turned it down to zero but it stayed on its highest temperature. By the time we realised we could not turn it off, it was the middle of the night and did not want to go to reception at that time. We would have liked the option to have our breakfast included in the price. This was not offered and paying for breakfast had an impact on our experience. We were on the first floor and could hear the music from the bar until after 11pm. Which was disruptive.
Very spacious room, comfy beds, with a cosy atmosphere. The hotel was close to the centre of town and ideal placed for an overnight stay. Our welcome was also pleasant and made us feel safe and comfortable upon our arrival.

United KingdomUnfortunately the lady who was serving on the bar made a bad first impression. Firstly I mentioned to the check in staff that I'd been to the hotel a few times before but had noticed it was under new management. Me and my friend made our way to the bar after a busy day at alton towers and leaving our town at 7am we fancied a cheeky cocktail, previously visiting there was a cocktail "the love island iced tea" it's the only place I know that sells it so had been looking forward to having one.. I asked said member of staff for the cocktail menu and noticed it was still on the menu!! Brilliant :D! Proceeded to order two of them to be told "NO ITS TUESDAY" asif to say drinking cocktails on a Tuesday is not acceptable?? She then didn't know how to make the cocktail after telling us she forced the new management to keep it on the menu as its her favourite? I found that quite strange not being able to make your favourite drink.. was just strange service overall to be honest.. I will be honest I do struggle with things like this as I am a manager of a restaurant/pub.. but if somebody was in my pub ordering drinks priced at £10 each I'd be more then happy to make them and would he disappointed in my team if they blatantly moaned about making a drink infront of a customer.. when I questioned not knowing the ingredients but being her favourite drink I got the response of "I said I like drinking them not making them" in a rude tone of voice.. not very hospitable. We would've stayed at the hotel bar/restaurant but decided to go elsewhere the night porter was lovely!! Very polite young man
The room was good. Stayed in room 4 which was quite small. Very nice bathroom, nice powerful shower. Good cocktail selection.
