Our room was at the back and a little bit dark.

It was an excellent location. It was a homely hotel with a myriad of different bars, eating places and music. It had a lovely vibe.

Great location as we were walking the SW coast path.

Decor was a little outdated but keeping with the style/age of the building.

Location was good for trains and buses to get around. Beach was quieter and unspoilt

Property is quite dated. Bathrooms especially need a major overhaul. Lots of artwork everywhere, some rather dubious for a family hotel.

Staff were really lovely, friendly & helpful. Food is good quality, plentiful & good value. Brilliant location, not far from the beach & various attractions.

I liked the hotel very much but the whole building overall could do with an upgrade. Some of the facilities were slightly lacking, we had an ironing board and asked for an iron but one couldn’t be found. Breakfast on Sunday was a little rushed and despite being offered a later sitting. I suspect preparing for Sunday lunch service was the issue. With that being the case I’d suggest not offering the later sitting option and stick with 9am.

The location was excellent for visiting this part of Cornwall, with good parking and the staff were brilliant.

The hotel is a little tired, is in need of an update After first day there was no hot water, the cold water was not that cold so the morning shower was tolerable and quite refreshing

Our shower was a disaster, hardly any pressure and we had no hot water for a day and a half. We wanted to inform somebody but there was nobody around in authority that we could complain to.

We loved the traditional decoration, the paintings and furnishings- giving it a warm and welcoming environment.

Staff friendly and welcoming. Room spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were very good. I had dinner in the restaurant every evening and the food was amazing. I will definitely stay there again.

Wi-Fi wasn't great in the bedroom (but was ok downstairs in the hotel)

Staff great. We had to attend an afternoon funeral a few miles away and needed an earlier check in at the hotel. We spoke to the lady on the reception desk a few days before we arrived and she managed to get our room ready for us for late morning which helped us enormously. Thank you. Bedroom was very big. Comfortable bed. Fridge in room Large full English Breakfast We were able to park on the hotel car park at the rear of the hotel

I paid for an upgraded room with a bath as I was looking forward to soaking after 12 miles hiking the SWCP. Unfortunately the hot water ran a rusty red for several minutes before I was able to draw a hot bath.

The staff were so helpful and friendly. The hotel is interesting in that it not cookie cutter modern and has a great collection of art and antique furnishings.

The only choice for breakfast was the Full English, apart from the usual cereal.

The plumbing was bad in two of the bedrooms, the shower tap didn’t work in one and the shower was inadequate in another. The taps were very hard to operate in the third room. We hated the kitch bad taste of all the nude women in the rooms!. Indeed I found the one in my room quite offensive! They weren’t good art, just bad taste and totally inappropriate to have in hotel rooms.

The breakfast was good and the staff tried very hard.
