Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThis was our favourite B&B during our two week trip traveling around Scotland. The room is exactly as pictured and it was very clean and welcoming. The breakfast was superb. You have options like fresh fruit bowls, yogurt with honey, warm croissants, homemade granola and more. The Studio has access to a beautiful private garden with a view of Falkland Castle. You can also see the Castle through the Studio's expansive skylight windows. It was a perfect place to spend time while we enjoyed the beautiful, quaint town of Falkland. Highly recommend a stay here. It was perfection. For activities, there is a woodland walk with waterfalls (Maspie Den Trails), two Hills to climb (East and West Lomond Hill Trailheads) and Falkland Castle and Gardens. There are several lovely little cafes for lunch and a pub across the street for dinner. There are also several little stores to meander through.

AustraliaA slightly larger exhaust fan in the bathroom would be great. Maybe it's an Australian thing because everywhere we stayed in Europe seemed to lack a fan that could clear out the steam and condensation from a shower.
Breakfast was outstanding. Every little extra comfort that you could think of was provided. The hosts were magnificent, the location is outstanding and the massive skylight above the bed is a one of a kind

United KingdomThere were no issues whatsoever. My only negative experience was watching Once upon a time in Hollywood. What a dreadful film. That is Quentin Tarintino's fault, not John's.
Our stay at the Studio at Maspie House was simply enchanting. Nestled in the heart of Fife, the studio offers a romantic retreat with skylight views and a delightful garden, all thanks to the exceptional host, John. The skylight views and thoughtful garden provide a serene atmosphere, and John's warm welcome and local insights made our stay extraordinary. He went above and beyond, adding romantic touches for our wedding night, creating unforgettable memories. The Studio's proximity to Falkland Palace is a bonus for history enthusiasts. If you're seeking a dreamy and romantic getaway, the Studio at Maspie House is the perfect choice.

Wow ! This place really is a little gem ! Being big Outlander fans we nearly booked the famous b&b in the village but the reviews on Maspie swayed our decision. Not to dismiss the other b&b we had lovely coffee & cake there. So glad we chose The studio at Maspie .. Lovely, spotless, cosy, modern, large comfy bed, good shower, luxurious towels, friendly host who goes to lots of effort to make your stay as pleasant as possible with little touches .. water on bedside tables, wine, sweets, bedside chocolates but last but not least ...the breakfast !!! The best breakfast we have EVER had at any hotel... served so much care and attention. Would definately recommend this perfect accomadation right in the town centre and would stay again should our travels bring us this way in the future .

John is an amazing host and his studio was the best conclusion to our holidays in Scotland. It is located in a wonderful position, with a view of the castle and surrounded by a lovely garden. I have never been to such an elegantly decorated studio. The cleanliness and the standard of the furniture and bathroom products are just impressive. John and his wife provide you with everything you may need with generosity and warmth. The studio is also the perfect venue for breakfast-lovers. After a relaxing night in the comfort of the studio, you'll be served a rich breakfast fit for a king. The stay is worth every single penny and is unforgettable. Thank you John for your care! It makes a difference!

This is the perfect hideaway/getaway set in a fantastic historic village where time seems to have stood still since the 1600s. John, the owner, is so polite, who engages in friendly and informative conversation. The gardens are also a peaceful haven, full of every type of flower and plant imaginable. Just a brilliant stay.
