Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe shower head could be positioned more central. A few more cupboards and shelving in the kitchen would have been of benefit. But overall no complaints, a wonderfull stay.
Plenty of fresh bathroom and bed linen, including extra pillows. Good selection of provisions in the cupboard, e.g. full fruit bowl, condiments, shower gel/shampoo. Nice comfy sofa and bed. Decent TV with Roku. Nice quiet location. We left an item of clothing behind the owner contacted us and forwarded it to our home address free of charge.

AustraliaUnfortunately, we didn't meet our hosts but directions were clear and everything was there when we arrived.
While a compact little B&B/holiday let, it has a very well equipped kitchen, Alexa and Smart TV, and a private outdoor sitting area.

United StatesThe only thing I would suggest is to provide a hairdryer. I had started our trip with my own hairdryer only to have it burn up on our first day. I was reluctant to buy one in Europe due to having a European plug which wouldn't have made sense we live in the US. But honestly, I was able to manage through it.
Enjoyed our very lovely stay at The Stable. I was impressed to find that they have been hosting since 2001 and their professionalism and quality were superb. The host was available for any questions. Extremely organized messages to help utilize home appliances. My husband and I are retired firefighters and we were both impressed with the attention to fire safety with smoke detectors and fire extinguishers along with a message to close the kitchen door during sleep that would help minimize the spread of a potential fire. Plenty of extra linens, a comfy bed, and perfect pillows. I completely felt like I went back in time and was visiting Grandma again with homemade bread and sweet cake for midnight snacking or morning breakfast. I love, love, loved my stay, and would return in a heartbeat. Figured out bus routes and train departures and we got around like pros. Location was perfect for visiting Salisbury, Winchester, Southampton, and the airport. Thank you for such a wonderful visit.

AustraliaThe Stable was a wonderful place to stay - as the name suggests, a converted stable of the original cottage. It had everything we could have wanted and our hosts provided a great welcome pack and every little extra that we may have needed. For us as a couple, it was a great size, with safe and secure parking and access. There were excellent instructions throughout the property and a very useful information pack. Access to the roads and surrounding area was easy. We walked up to one of the local pubs one evening for a couple of drinks and some wonderful food. There was nothing to fault in our experience.

A lovely welcome pack with home made bread, lemon drizzle cake, milk, butter etc. was a lovely touch. The owners Mike and Hilary were very welcoming, the accommodation was spotlessly clean and well equipped. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

United KingdomWe happened to stay during a cold snap with frost every morning, so it's probably not a regular issue, but the property didn't really get very warm for the duration of our stay. The instructions to adjust the heating were useful and clear, but even with the heating on constantly it was slow to warm up. The radiators seemed small, and condensation on the bedroom ceiling suggeted it isn't very well insulated. It was quite dusty, especially under the bed.
We had a lovely stay. Well equipped and in a private setting, the property had everything we needed for a short break, or longer if desired. There was a lot of useful information about the property and surrounding area. The bed was really comfortable! The hosts Mike and Hilary were really friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and the welcome pack was lovely.
