Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI travel alot for work and bed is orivably most uncomfortable I've ever encountered - sunk like a hammock! Few other small things would also make a big difference, e.g. no chopping board in kitchen, no hand towel in or bathmat in bathroom
Great location a very close walk to the centre of town. Cosy size apartment perfect for a couple for the weekend.

AustraliaThe mattress could have been a little more firm but that is personal taste. The issue with parking is trickier as I had to park quite a distance from the accommodation on two evenings as there was simply nowhere to park close by. Not a deal breaker but be prepared for the possibility that you might need to do so.
Great location! About five minutes walk from the Cathedral & Market Square and felt very safe. Also well appointed accommodation - everything you needed in a small space - the kitchenette was tiny but it had everything you needed to self cater or heat up food. Even a washing machine! The central heating was excellent and the shower hot! I felt very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed my time in Cirencester, made nicer by having such a lovely base.

PortugalNo black out curtains. The street lights shine through . The place was cold when I arrived in the evening . I had to search for the towels, which I eventually found in a box under the bed. The matress was lumpy and too soft. The lights in the kitchen area were not working.
Great location. Very central but quiet street. 5 minute walk to the church.. comfortable small flat once the heating was on.

AustraliaVery small and compact. Bed linen was on the cheap side. Parking close could be a problem especially if raining.

United KingdomUnfortunately I dealt with 2 staff members and Emma who was on the call team was nothing short of terrible. I received an email on the afternoon before checkout the next morning asking if I'd like to extend my stay. I was in fact delighted to hear this as I literally had nowhere to go the following evening due to circumstances beyond my control. I therfor contacted the team (Emma) at the call centre at approximately 6pm (email said they were open until 9pm). She said that their systems were struggling so she would call me back in 10 minutes. I decided to have some dinner and after 30 minutes I decided to try again as I hadn't heard from Emma as promised. I called back and she didn't sound impressed to hear from me. Systems were still a problem and she reassured me she would definitely call me back ASAP... Needless to say I didn't hear back from her before 9pm so I decided to call back first thing (9am). Somewhat disgruntled at this point and panicking due to not having anywhere to stay. I had honestly hoped for a different member of staff but sadly I was met again by Emma who instead of apologising when I pointed out that she hadn't called me she clearly took offence and actually began to argue and talk over me... after explaining my predicament she assured me she will do all she can to extend my stay or find me something else in the area, quite unbelievably she then said she will put the phone down and call me back with an update. Obviously by now i didn't expect a call back so instead put in a request for a late checkout as I was down to about 45 minutes until I had to be gone, still with nowhere to go. The late check out request wasn't actioned or even looked at despite me mentioning it whilst talking to Emma, perhaps she didn't hear me over herself. Just when I'd about given up any hope of finding a solution I heard back from Emma!!! I know!! Came as a shock to me too!
I thought the pre checkin service was exceptional. LeeAnn (I believe was the cleaner) was wonderful and helped massively. She let me know I could check in early and deserves a 5 star staff rating.

United KingdomThe property was grubby and clearly hadn't been cleaned, even though we were charged a cleaning fee as part of our booking. There were cobwebs, dust, dirt and mould across the property. The bed had seen better days, the matress had no firmness at all, you just sink through. In the kitchen, we had to thoroughly wash the kettle as it was full of limescale, and the glassware had an unusual odour. The host had only left a single out of date coffee sachet for each of us, no tea bags, no sugar. Honestly, if you're going to be this tight just don't bother, it's insulting to your guests. Finally, prior to the stay and even at the property you get a list of do's and don'ts. This just makes you feel like you're at school and not welcome at the property at all. I contacted Booking.com and the host after our stay to inform them of the issues. Booking.com's customer service is just terrible and the host didn't even bother to respond, this tells you all you need to know.
The best thing about this property is it's location, it's nice and quiet. It's a short walk to the centre of Cirencester where you can find the historic church, shops, pubs and restaurants.

United KingdomBed was a small double, still good size but with the size of room could have been bigger, that's being very fussy though as was still comfy!
Highlight was the location, which was absolutely perfect. Short walk into the town, parking wasn't an issue, often able to park right outside. Had every we needed in such a compact property.
