Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had a room facing the street so we got some traffic noise and other street noises - recycling collection etc. Some of the room was quite good and some of it needed a bit of a refresh.
The location is excellent. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There is on street parking and we found out you can also use the Legion car park close by.

United KingdomOne room smelt a little damp. The landlord apologised for this on arrival, explaining that it is difficult to deal with because it is a listed building.
The staff were really helpful and friendly. It is a beautiful old building with quirky individual rooms.

United KingdomAsked for another room because the first was unacceptable for a few reasons. Both rooms had large antique style beds which was great, but both needed freshening up.

United KingdomThe rooms could do with redecorating, and the plumbing probably needs looking at. The car park isn’t actually at the hotel, and it isn’t particularly secure.
Location was good. The pub part was nice; traditional with friendly locals. The staff were engaging and helpful. The room was clean.

United KingdomWe had two twin rooms. The rooms were not as clean as we would have liked, a lot of cobwebs on the beams in one of them and the carpets felt a bit grubby. The bathrooms were worn but clean. The beds got mixed reviews, I was comfortable in mine.
Good value, good location. Friendly helpful staff. Shower was hot and powerful.

United KingdomUnfortunately my son wasn't too happy with it, a very oldy world pub, the bathroom had a sliding door which didn't close properly, breakfast was either a full english didn't get a choice. We had spoken to the manager and asked for a late check out of 11am he agreed, but then we received a knock on the door at 10.10 saying we had to be out at 10.30 no if or butts.
A nice quaint pub, which was very busy the night we arrived, we highly recommend the Italian restaurant across the road Zaza, amazing food,

United KingdomWhile a bit of dust is to be expected and not an issue in an old pub setting, the night time noise from the road was disruptive due to poor soundproofing. Also, an unpleasant odor emanating from the aging bathroom was unpleasant. Despite these drawbacks, the Saracens Inn's charming character and convenient location, combined with its relatively affordable pricing, made our stay enjoyable for a single night. The pub itself is great, but for dinner there are likely better options in town.
Located in Amersham's Old Town, the Saracens Inn exudes old-world charm, with its rustic decor and exposed beams creating an inviting ambiance into the pub. Our room boasted a large and incredibly comfortable four-poster bed. The staff were helpful and friendly, explaining us the quirks of the vintage toilet mechanism (no, it's not broken!) Additionally, full English breakfast prepared by the staff was a delicious treat, setting us up for the day ahead. Excellent location to visit old Amersham and hike in the Chilterns.

United KingdomThe street was noisy with traffic early in the morning.
The Pub was delightful with friendly locals and good wine. The room was in a self contained converted cottage and was very small, but clean and well appointed. We enjoyed the setting and location within Old Amersham - the accommodation offered everything that we required.

United KingdomStairs up to the room were a little awkward, especially with a dog. Could have done with a light at the bottom of the stairs by the door.
We had a private entrance to our room which is handy as we have a dog. Comfy bed, a good amount of space.

United KingdomEven though we had communication from the owner before arriving, they were not on the premises or made themselves known to the residents for the whole of our 5 night stay, which we thought was a bit strange considering they lived opposite. The twin bed mattresses in room 3 may need to be upgraded as the edges have lost their structure so easy to roll out of bed!
Even though there was not a wide choice of items, breakfast was good with tasty bacon and sausages. We would like to say Thank You to John who seemed to do everything; cook & serve breakfast (being amenable to daily changes to breakfast requests) and all the housekeeping one change over days. Most of the rooms are based around the courtyard, so no awkward steps to climb. What readers need to consider is that Saracens Head is a very old Public House on a main road, it is not accommodation in a chain where everything is the same. The evening food was very good and great portion size too. No food on a Monday but lots of options within walking distance. The evening pub staff were friendly and accommodating.
