Very tired and in need of tlc

Room was too hot and the cleaner servicing the room kept closing our windows. Lift doors had splash marks all over them and needed cleaned. Shaver mirror needed maintenance which I reported. Staff were efficient but didn't engage in any conversation.

Breakfast selection was good although didn't try the evening meals as there are loads of restaurants within a five minute walk. Room was a good size and clean. TV had all the free view channels. Lift to all floors although small capacity (6). Great location to train station and ferry.

Lift was slow, so used the stairs more

Bed was very comfortable also the pillows were comfy.help yourself breakfast which was nice, plates nice and warm and food was hot which made a big difference as I had been hotels all week in other parts of Scotland and breakfast was cold, hotel very central in Oban which was helpful, hotel could do with a bit of upgrading but was fine and would book again

My single room was a little cramped and overlooked a sad and scruffy inner rooftop. Overall the hotel décor is tired and badly in need of a refresh.

Great location. Friendly and extremely helpful staff. Decent breakfast.

Only thing was room was very hot as we couldn't open the window as it was too heavy and stiff. But cleaning staff open it when cleaning room in the morning.

First morning breakfast was not very warm, but after that it was fine. Very central for all amenities.

Shower. I find a hand held facility better to use.

Location and room. Wet towels dried on the rails in the bathroom. Lifts. Staff were friendly. Lounge and bar. Bed and bedding. Able to leave bags in reception kept before check in time. Close to station and bus stops.

The view from my window and the bathroom wasn't great - the sink was leaking, the shower curtain was mouldy and the shower was not great. See photos below..

I enjoyed my stay at the Royal, but was disappointed to find that An excellently cooked self-service breakfast to be served on cold plates. This meant that halfway through the meal, it was inedible as it was cold and greasy. Very disappointed as everything else was excellent.

One of the rooms we were assigned had a terrible outlook of a back fire escape which appeared in poor maintenance. The receptionist was helpful in assigning another room when I complained but quite honestly the outlook was so poor I think the hotel could be making efforts to make the room a little more comfortable by adding blinds or voil curtains to soften such a poor outlook.

The staff were friendly staff, the hotel is central for shopping amenities and the ferry terminal. It had an entertainer playing accordian on Saturday evening. The breakfast buffet was ample with a selection of hot and cold options, was very tasty! Rooms were tired looking but clean.
