Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was no heating in the room working and no way to have a shower with a shower head attached to the bath. Also the building we stayed in wasn’t the main building and was a five minute walk away. Also the fact there was a bar inside the building which played loud music till late on not ideal for those early risers to which we were for a ploughing match with being competiers.
The property itself was okay and in a good central location.

United KingdomThe big downside was the green emergency bulkhead in my room glowing all night, the unbearable stench in the bathroom and the busy bus stop bang outside from my room. Not the best night's kip.
Of course, it was acceptable for the price I paid £25. Decent decor room, pretty comfy bed and pillows. Has most of the things you need.

United KingdomIt wasn’t clean my 12 year old son opened one of the draws to put his stuff in and found a used packet of condoms and food in them, plugged my charger in the socket behind the bed to find a soiled towel behind the headboard, the towels had stains on them, the shower dribbled water out, no blinds in the bathroom so people can see you having a shower, the room was freezing all night, tv channels didn’t work room was not in the inn but across the road in a random block with a snooker hall.
Beds were reasonable comfortable, newly decorated room.

United KingdomUnfortunately, in the second room we were in, the beds weren't the most comfortable. Could feel every bit of wood in the bed base through the mattress.
Man on the front desk was lovely and when we had an issue with a bed, he moved us quickly into another room.

GermanyThe place is undergoing refurbishment. Had initially no running water in the room, no hot water. Only got a new room for the last night of the stay. Bit odd presentation of the breakfast-buffet. Large selection of different bread, crumpets, (industrial) pastry, but only two choices of jam. Cereals okay. Overall, leaves room for improvement...

United KingdomEn-suite was cramped. The mattress springs on the bed were uncomfortable and the curtains need to be fixed.
Breakfast was good. Room was adequate although there was some water marks on the wall which could easily have been painted. The owners seemed to be in the process of up-grading the building.

United KingdomI booked the Waverley Lodge but was redirected to another 'hotel' down the street. I think my room was on the third floor.....but I am not sure! There were stairs up and stairs down, there were corridors going one way and then the other. Never managed to get to my room the same way twice. The building also shares the premises with a snooker/billiard place and also a pub. There was nothing preventing those customers wandering up into the 'hotel' area. There was a hotel reception......but there was never anyone there. This felt very unsafe; I had to carry all my valuables with me when I went out. The walls were paper thin. I heard every word of the conversation of the people in the next room. One of them was a fine snorer and I was less than happy when his phone alarm woke everyone at 6.30am.
The Wi-Fi worked well.

United KingdomI only saw a staff member when I telephoned a mobile number at reception. Room was basic. The TV was balanced on a small unit it had no stand and had at one point been fixed to the no lift. There was work going on and there was no breakfast on offer. I have mobility problems and everything was on the first and second floor so getting up the stairs was a problem as there was no lift.

United KingdomThe hotel was slow to answer questions before the visit. The room was basic, we expected that from the price, but we expected hot water to shower/wash. We advised the hotel, a gentleman came run the water and agreed it was cold, advised the manager who would get a plumber out. 2 days without hot water other than boiling a kettle is not good. Seems this has been an ongoing issue for months. Bed was clean, but mattress has seen better days.

United KingdomVery confusing because on the booking it comes as Waverley , on the arrival you’re told to go to Royal hotel which is close by . The whole purpose of my booking was to sleep during the day hence I was working night shift and was going for another night shift on the same day , I made a special request on the previous arrival day to check in early, the lady at the Reception said it would be ok to check in at 11:00 . When I arrived on the day at 11:00 the young man at the Reception told me a different story of checking in at 3pm ( their policy of course ) , I had to go again explaining myself the whole purpose of my booking and also told him that I requested this a day before to lady from the Reception ( obviously who was not there at the time ) . I asked the young man to please start cleaning my room first instead of waiting to clean all the rooms as he said, which he did. I eventually checked in at 12:30 instead of 3pm which was better and I thanked him for his understanding even though it was not easy in the first place . The toilet was dirty , the cups & glasses were all dirty. The bed linen was clean.
