Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAll great!!
Very clean, quiet and comfortable place to stay. Not far from the station, with shops. the old village and restaurants all nearby. Caz and Mike were really nice and kept checking with us if we needed anything. Great home cooked breakfasts, with lots of choice. A big thank you to Caz and Mike for opening he breakfast room earlier one day when we had a early coaster bus to catch to visit or friends in Freshwater. If you want a quiet place to stay with home comforts, I recommend the Richmond B & B.

We booked this B&B on the recommendation of our friends who moved to the Isle. They had stayed here before and their recommendation was on point. The owners were professional and helpful and we were able to park on the front drive. Checking in was a doodle and after arranging breakfast we were shown to our room on the first floor; it looked out at Regent Street. You can see the owners have not only invested in the property but they have given thought to what is needed when staying at a B&B. Not only is there plenty of storage space, a hairdryer and sewing kit but you get makeup removing eye wipes to sanitary bags. You can make a cuppa in your room with a huge range of teas and coffees including Decaffeinated coffee including plenty of milk and sugar For those - like me - we had a shower that was definitely not cold! You get shower gel and hand soap if you've forgotten yours! A TV is provided in the room which is a godsend for me because I don't sleep very well. The bonus is it had a timer I could programe so I could go to sleep with it on. Breakfast : Take your pick! They had fresh juice, tea and coffee and yes they had decaffeinated! My husband had an English fry up both days and I had poached egg on toast. There were cereals, today, fresh fruit and yoghourts. All in all... First class. Will we return? Absolutely!

United KingdomFrom the moment we arrived, Mark and Caz were both very welcoming and couldn't do more to settle us in. We had traveled over for a wedding and the hosts were very accommodating in giving us extra time to get ready before coming in to clean our room. We had a fantastic Breakfast freshly made on our arrival to the dining room with plenty of choice. The room was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. Beds are very comfortable and situated in a nice quiet area. Mark was also very helpful in assisting us to secure a ferry. The Richmond also benefits from off street parking which is great in Shanklin, as we would have had to park several streets away. Thank you to Mark and Caz again for a lovely stay and if/when we return to IOW we will certainly be booking in again. We had a lovely long weekend at a fantastic wedding and accompanied with our stay here made it a beautiful memorable weekend for us both, Ben & Teresa

United KingdomNot a thing, everything is spot on.
Home from Home, was warmly welcomed on arrival, shown to our very large room, everywhere is spotless, room & shower & separate toilet was really really good, comfortable bed & bedding. Mark & Caz was very hospitable and the breakfast each morning was cooked fresh as you come down, and was very tasty, not cheap bacon / sausage etc. Driveway parking was really useful and the location is perfect for Old Shanklin Village or beach. Certainly recommended and will return in the near future.

United Kingdomcant think of anything
We stayed at the Richmond Bed and Breakfast for the first week of July... Hadnt been to the Isle Of Wight for a long time, were a little apprehensive as we had booked there last room classed as a small room.. We were met by Mike on our arrival and were welcomed in with a few tips etc... The room was on the small side but we found it had everything we needed, we unpacked and put our bags in the car boot to give us extra room in the B & B.. The room had a double bed, TV kettle and various sockets, it had a few coat hangers on a peg and a little shelf, plues two bedside cabinets and a chest of drawers for all our belongings.. The bathroom was a nice size containing a shower, basin and toilet all ideal for our stay.. The room was light and airy and very comfortable... The parking was not a problem if we were blocked in just a polite chat with the other guests and all was arranged, great option if you have a car as pretty much the whole island is pay & display. The breakfasts were really good, consisting of fruits, yougurts, cereals etc.. then the hot option an excellent full cooked breakfast which if you asked could be changed to suit your needs... The hosts Mark & Caz were fabulous, couldnt do enough for us and were available as and when we needed them.. the house overall was in fantastic condition, all rooms were of freshly decorated and very smart throughout... all in all if you want a wonderful B & B to stay in whilst during your stay on the isle of wight you couldnt go wrong staying here.... we loved it...
